Letterman still apologizing but it's not enough for Palin and her followers
Letterman apologizes for joke, but Palin supporters vow to continue fight
04:23 PM PT, Jun 15 2009

"I told a bad joke," Letterman told viewers at an afternoon taping. "I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault."

8. Hi, sandnsea. Agree. Letterman isn't where he is by happenstance.
He's there for his wit and his charm and his insight and his brains -- all of which the Palins lack.

Sarah and Todd could be in for quite an undoing.

56. Unfortunately, since it was the younger daughter at the game
and Letterman specifically referenced the Palin appearance it allowed Palin an opportunity to score some points with her "public".

As Letterman stated, it's not the intent but the perception that matters and Palin was able to spin the perception.

She changed her stance on command.

I'm sure Letterman will say her actual name next time, and avoid confusion about which liar he's satirizing.

Good to see you. The word that's been used around here is "iceberg" headed Sarah's way, but all the talk has been very cryptic. I read one very interesting possibility yesterday at The Immoral Minority blog. If you're curious, go to Gryphen's website here http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/ , scroll down to the article entitled "Is the ADN Still in Palin's Pocket," and then read the comment by "Anonymous" at 10:16. It's very interesting, and would be fabulous if true. I'm not going to believe it until I see it, but this person sounds knowledgeable.

They are determined to be outraged no matter what. Any gesture by Letterman will be ignored, misinterpreted, or taken out of context. His continuing to talk about it just gives them more opportunity to publicly display their self-righteous outrage.

Repeat after me, once again: Late. Night. Comics. Tell. Tasteless. Jokes. Every. Night. Of. The. Week. (well, except maybe Sunday - don't think there's any on then) - and they've been doing so for decades.

30. That's exactly what I said in my email to EmbassySuites
who pulled their ads from CBS under pressure from palin backers.

Dear Sir,

I will not be staying in any of your hotels because you pulled your ads from CBS.

Sarah Palin paraded her kids around during the campaign and used them as props. She knows Dave was talking about the daughter who was on the cover of People magazine with her baby talking about abstinence or whatever.

Palin preached lies and incited hate at her rallies against then Senator Obama and she hasn't apologized yet.

Sincerely,
Cha *****
New York

"David Letterman's comments about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and one of her daughters has prompted a hotel chain to pull its advertising on CBS' website — and spawned a campaign to fire the Late Show host that includes a planned protest outside his studio.

Embassy Suites, part of the Hilton Hotels Corp., pulled advertising on CBS' site because of complaints, company spokeswoman Kendra Walker told TVGuide.com. The company was not an advertiser on Letterman's show.

"We received lots of e-mails from concerned guests and we assessed that the statement that he made was offensive enough to our guests and prospective guests that we elected to take the ads down," Walker said. She declined to release the cost of the ads."

Embassy Suites knuckles under to Palin

and has pulled their ads from all CBS.com websites.

Please contact them and let them know they've lost you as a customer for cow-towing to right wing extremists.

John Lee, VP Brand Marketing and Communications, john.lee@hilton.com

Dawn Ray, Public Relations, 901-374-5954, dawn.ray@hilton.com

And for all the people who don't think this is important, now they are going after Letterman, next it will be Jon Stewart, then Keith and Rachel. Don't let them silence the few progressive voices left in the media.

Please pass this on to as many friends and forums as possible.

Thank you.

Prediction, everyone sharing Sarah Palin's genetic material either Has or Will be pregnant before marrying and/or the age of 18..

the less of a viable candidate she becomes. She's already a joke to a large portion of the nation and the more she tries to "manage" her personal life the more of a freak show it becomes. As long as the focus is on her personal life and not her politics, she loses.
