3. If you are breaking the law, don't break any other laws

Our local newspaper is filled with police reports that are based around something like "license tag light out" or "failed to signal turn" and then they end up with "arrested for possession."

Sure, you know and I know that police officers pulling over people at dark AM for reasons like "tag light out" are not just super observant about traffic laws; they know that once the person is pulled over they can say "You don't mind if I search your vehicle?"

Important Tip: If you are going to smuggle drugs, don't speed, don't drive recklessly and don't drive anything less than a perfectly-maintained vehicle. And don't drive through my town at night.
