Park Bathrooms May Shutter During Budget Cuts

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― City leaders will consider spending cuts this week that include closing public bathrooms in parks, but residents say that plan could lead to "disaster."

A group called Rescue Sacramento Parks is fighting the city's proposed budget that would slash 55 park jobs and force cuts to some of the more sanitary services.

"If we don't have park bathrooms, you and I know what's going to happen," said group member Craig Powell. "It's going to be a disaster."

The group argues that cutting 43 percent of city park workers will devastate the cleanliness at local parks; the grass wouldn't be cut for weeks at a time, trash cans wouldn't be emptied regularly, and the bathrooms would have to close altogether.

3. 90 miles south in Modesto....
The city is shutting down the bathrooms AND the irrigation systems. Many of the cities parks are simply going to be allowed to die off (which permits the city to save money on both water, and by firing the people who would otherwise be mowing those parks).

5. Bowels and bladders WILL be voided,
whether into a system to handle human waste, or on the ground.

Are we going to run backwards on public health at home while we continue to spend billions abroad on wars of empire?
