I will give $1000.00 to the first Democratic Presidential Candidate who...
... announces a boycott of FOX "News". No interviews, no debates, no press credentials for your events, no acknowledgement of FOX as if they were a legitimate news broker. Stop playing along to get along, folks.
So, to:
Senator Joe Biden,
Retired General Wesley Clark of Arkansas,
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton,
Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina,
Former Vice President Al Gore of Tennessee,
Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts,
Representative Dennis Kucinich,
Senator Barack Obama of Illinois,
and Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico,
publically vow to shun them, and you get my $1000.00.
And perhaps more will follow my lead.

1. That's a bold statement
But for a politician to do that would possibly be even bolder.

22. There'd be week-long nation-wide headlines for the 1st to do it,
..and it would be amazingly well received by the Democratic base.

2. I think Dem CANDIDATES shouldn't but that other Dems should show up to defend
Dem message and issues.

BTW - Kerry isn't running.

I will boycott Faux News, I promise that to you. And I will tell you right now: Even the very idea that there is anyting immoral at all about being homosexual is laughable, at best.

ON EDIT: Can I have my thousand bucks?

5. Disagree
To get the Democratic message out to the masses, our candidates have to be on the media that the masses watch. We shouldn't pass up a chance to convert them, just because they watch nothing but Faux News.

6. Uh, have you ever SEEN Pox News?
Democrats have been trying that shit for 10 years, only to be shouted down by Pox News panels and resident wingnuts. Democrats are routinely sandbagged the way Clinton was, and few have had his gift of gab and backbone and willingness to shout back. Democrats come off as wimps and losers on Pox News because the network intends nothing else for them.

Some organizations have lost all respect for other views and especially for people who hold different views. Pox News represents a stacked deck, and any Democrat who thinks he can beat the game is asking to look like an idiot.

7. Actually--
No, I don't think I have ever seen it. Don't have cable. Don't watch much TV.

But isn't this about a debate? In a debate, the only person who can make someone look bad is HIM (or HER) SELF. (Like Bush did, debating Kerry.)

12. It isn't just about a debate, it's about much more.
Edited on Thu Apr-05-07 05:15 PM by TWriterD
And even considering these debates as actual debates is a joke - they're so packaged and slick that I can barely stand to tune in.

You honestly cannot recall if you've ever seen Faux "News"? Interesting. Know thy enemy! And I'd lump pretty much all of Corporate Media into that category, but for a few cable programs. It's just that Faux is the most egregious.

14. That explains your opinion
Fox News routinely spins, distorts, omits, and outright lies about anything a Democrat says on any of its programs, unless the Democrat towed the Republican line. It's not "debate", it's "propaganda".

20. Debate can happen when people follow certain rules
of discourse. Pox News does not follow those rules. There is no debate.

8. They have no desire to be converted...
that's why they choose to watch Faux "News." There's no converting them, no matter the Democratic message. Commander Flightsuit could run down Pennsylvania Avenue buck naked with a bloodied head on a pike, and they'd still support him. The Dem boycott (or whatever it's called) rightly sends the message that they're not a legitimate news source. Phuck 'em.

9. Did you send this proposal to them? You want to see FAUX NEWS boycotted...send them your offer!
They'll be beating down the door to be the first to denounce them.:)

My husband would kill me if I offered $1000 for this. In 2004 I LITERALLY threw away $750.00 because my candidate dropped out of the race before we could attend the fund raiser we paid $750.00 to attend. THAT will NEVER happen again. I'm saving my dollars for later.

why should I have to pay my candidate to denounce what is a well known and well documented propaganda outfit? They should be doing it anyway just out of principle.

17. I also disagree. This is a terrible idea.
When President Clinton gave Chris Wallace the beat down on Fox News Sunday it resulted in rallying the troops. Dems should storm Fox and demand time, not cower in the corner.

As a liberal I don't need a friendly audience to win the argument- I just need a venue and a few open minds.

It's a good first step though.
