when the entire city has turned out against you.
The entire country must be at a standstill because of the election fraud.

or are they just ignoring....like the anti-war marches?

6. Actually, it was "tens of thousands"
That was the standard line at any antiwar protest in America or abroad. Had to make Bush's policies look good.

18. Except in DC
After I was part of an almost million person march in 2004, I went back to my hotel and heard how "thousands" had marched. I couldn't believe they had the gall. But they did.

31. Especially in DC
I've come to realize, though, that the protests aren't to show others or even to influence anyone. They are there to help us keep our strength so that we continue with the fight. And that is something that no media outlet can blackout, no matter how much they might want to.

33. Yeah, or taking photos of the very edges of the protest to make it look sparse
and poorly attended. Or taking as many photographs of the handful of counter-protesters to make it look "balanced".

Few things opened my eyes more about the media than attending the massive pre-war protest march up Lake Shore Drive in Chicago and then comparing what I saw with my own eyes to the images being shown on the news.

7. Good for them!!
I was telling my husband last night how proud and jealous I am that the Iranian people would turn out in numbers like that over a stolen election. I wish I had seen that in my country in 2000 and 2004.

I salute the Iranians. :patriot:

9. Khamene'i and Ahmadi-nejad over reached
Had they had Ahmadi-nejad barely eek out 50.01%, and had him lose in Tirbiz and barely win with less than 50% in Tehran, it would ahve been harder for Mousavi to contest.

They know how to steal elections without going overboard, Got to keep the illusion of closeness if you want to steal an election properly.

MUCH closer...still stolen but much closer. This sucker was blatantly stolen from an overwhelming loss.

the capitol of Iran. Had you attended either of Bush's inaugural protests in DC, you would have seen similar numbers of people in the streets. That you didn't perfectly illustrates how poorly the CM covered those protests.

49. You should have been there
They were outstanding. The energy of the million or so people covering DC was so electric. I won't ever forget it and the fact that the msm blacked it out hurt at first but if you see my post above, I have come to understand the point of those protests differently.

17. One difference between Iranian (and Ukrainian) democracy and ours.
The Iranian and Ukrainian people care about the "consent of the governed".

Too many American people care about what's next on the television (and not much else.)

Good for the Iranian people.

Shame on us.

Perhaps when millions of us are jobless, homeless, pennyless and hungry, we will find the will to protest when there is nothing else to lose.

50. As someone here cogently pointed out yesterday
a large part of the reason can be attributed to demographics. In Iran, 70% of the population is under 30. Just about the reverse of that trend is true in the U.S.
