Grand Ayatollah Sanei in Iran has declared Ahmadinejad's presidency illegitimate and cooperating with his government against Islam. There are strong rumors that his house and office are surrounded by the police and his website is filtered. He had previously issued a fatwa, against rigging of the elections in any form or shape, calling it a mortal sin.

1. Seems like the police violence is centered at the Univ.
Sad.

Any gov't that has to shoot its own citizens is illegitimate IMO.

4. I think they've been going after the activists at the unis.
There were reports of them beating up students in Esfahan and Shiraz. It sounds coordinated.

5. We're not going to know the truth until the bloodletting is over
I really do wish the rebels all the best, and that they may succeed, but we need to keep our nose out of this spat right now.

6. Oooh, That Will Cost Them Support
Not even the protests during the late days of the Shah ended with opening fire on crowds. I understand this is a line that is normally not crossed in Iran.
