"4:35 update: Foreign media crackdown underway. NBC and ABC have had their cameras and film confiscated. BBC has been ordered out of the country."

Clearly, if this is false, we'll know it soon, via ABC/NBC.

1. update
A BBC news update on Radio 4 a few minutes ago included a reporter in Iran describing how security forces had at one point started trying to stop them from filming. People saw what was going on, chased the security people away, and opened up a path through traffic for the BBC staff to make an escape.

3. And check out this update from that link you provided:

5:13 update: A colleague of ours translated a note from Iran Daily today:

‘How many votes did the candidates receive in their hometowns?’ Iran Daily, Sunday 14 June 2009.

‘… In Aradan, Semnan, the hometown of the elected president, of 10,000 votes, Dr. Mahmud Ahmadinejad received 9,000 … In the village of Lali, in Khuzestan, the hometown of Mohsen Rezai, Ahmadinejad received 830 votes out of 900… In Shabestar (East Azerbaijan), the hometown of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Dr. Ahmadinejad received 5,000 out of 7,000 votes, and Mousavi around 2,000. 6. Heh - yah. If I recall, there's a Sully post about how the Iranian incumbent forces...
are saying different things to English speakers, knowing full well that we aren't gonna buy that.

Ah - here's the post:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/06/both-sides-of-their-mouth.html

"A reader writes:

Out of curiosity, I have been checking out coverage of the Iranian election from international sources, including PressTV, the English language broadcast run by the Iranian government.

What I find to be curious is that PressTV actually reported that Ahmadinejad received fewer votes in Tehran than Mousavi, but won the election based on the results outside of Tehran. This flatly contradicts what they reported to their own people, which indicated an Ahmadinejad victory in Tehran, with over 50% of the vote, despite multiple candidates.

In other words, I suspect that Iran's government may be trying to take a fraudulent, implausibly rosy propaganda victory crafted for the Iranian public, changing it into something that the rest of the world might possibly view as being something like reality."

7. I saw the same thing happening in a bi-lingual show
that covers Latin America. Exploiting the language difference is an easy way to manage the message.

12. Big Picture: Democracy denied....now a Despotic Nation much as we were for 8 years....
For them...the price will be high to restore normalty...prolly lots of blood.....unless the military comes to bear...which has a possibility of becoming a military coup with a worse leader than ever..

Such is the evolution of Democracy...the price might be high but the rewards of good governance beckons....

11. Word is that they didn't count them at all. They made shit up upon seeing they were gonna lose.
The word could be wrong, of course, but that's what the word is.
