Now is the time for positive action for Gay Rights. It has been long overdue, but has reached the critical mass, the momentum is gaining. Now is an important time to make the full effort to recognize the civil rights of everyone, and legislatively remove any and all discrimination based on one's sexual identity.
Each movement, each story carries the weight of correcting the institutional bigotry of the past. This is the next step in the civil rights march for equality. Each time this story makes it to the media and to the American people, an opportunity arises for the leaders of this country. They can help the progression with positive actions and words, they can stall the movement by ignoring it, or the can hurt the cause and set equality back on its course.
We should all be angry if the leaders of our party, the champions of civil rights, are not unwavering and not unambiguous in their full support for the cause of equality. Anything less than that support, no matter what branch, department or representative in our government it comes from, should incite anger.
