The Knives are Out for Letterman.
Will CBS cave?

What a shock, after Dave Letterman provided a death blow to the McCain campaign, at the first opportunity, the RW Noise machine has put the attack level up to eleven. The calls are now out there to have Dave sacked.

Will CBS cave? Well NBC sure wouldn't mind. They are getting their asses handed to them in a hat with the Conan replacement of Leno. The right is flexing its muscles here, we are in the midst of their 2010 campaign to retake Congress, and as usual we can't even see that they are campaigning, being too busy evaluating the merits of each and every turd barrage the noise machine launches.

for CBS to cave and if they do, there is always ABC or even Comedy Central.

Edited on Fri Jun-12-09 04:26 PM by emulatorloo
I mean they are basically saying Letterman is a Pedophile!

I doubt CBS will cave given how foolish the Palins look.

23. Yeah, she should be focusing on the rape rate in the state she is supposed to be governing! Highest
in the USA.

But then again, she has no problem re-victimizing real victims of rape under her watch (paying for their own kits, denying emergency contraception, etc).

10. Rush Limbaugh, Kate Obenshain, and Paul Paulshanklin, called President Obama a "Magic Negro,"
Those racist assholes should be fired too.

Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s not authentic like me.
Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper
Said he makes guilty whites feel good
They’ll vote for him, and not for me
‘Cause he’s not from the hood.

See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,
Or me, or Farrakhan
Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.
Not come in late and won!

Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.
Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times, they called him that
‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.

Some say Barack’s “articulate”
And bright and new and “clean.”
The media sure loves this guy,
A white interloper’s dream!
But, when you vote for president,
Watch out, and don’t be fooled!
Don’t vote the Magic Negro in –
‘Cause —

’Cause I won’t have nothing after all these years of sacrifice
And I won’t get justice. This is about justice. This isn’t about me, it’s about justice.
It’s about buffet. I don’t have no buffet and there won’t be any church contributions,
And there’ll be no cash in the collection plate.
There ain’t gonna be no cash money, no walkin’ around money, no phoning money.
Now, Barack going to come in here and ........

12. I sent an e-mail to CBS in support of Dave Letterman.
I find it kind of interesting that out of all the comedians who have lampooned Sarah -- they are myriad and have made equally as "tasteless" jokes -- Dave Letterman is the only one she has chosen to so viciously attack. Knowing her need for attention, she has probably chosen him to unleash on because he has a larger audience than the rest of them. We all want her to go away, but she just won't...rather like Rod Blagojevich, but at least he's entertaining.

and from what gumption he's shown in the past with dealing with arrogance and bullying, I'm sure he'll tell one every night.

I certainly hope so. Lord only knows there's infinite material there!

17. Letterman's job is safe. His patience is about to be worn thin, though
He has a TEAM of writers, and quite often, there are tasteless jokes that make it to air. He probably has said all he's gonna say about it (from an apology-stance).

Sarah's handlers think they have neutralized him/... they are wrong. She has neutralized herself.

21. The - RW Noise Machine, was pulling up Obama's words on families and especially chidlren...
from the primaries as being off limits to such pressures, and of course that makes sense; but they are tying Letterman to Obama as though Letterman is an Obama operative and thus Obama has broken his word - *real* weird, really out there shit,

republicans have lost it and only a slight few even seem to know it. So this stuff is all they have: this 'fire Dave' mantra and this 'putting sardonic, ill-fitting words into even Willow's mouth; an otherwise youthful, innocent girl, laid there by her own mother onto her tongue' stuff

22. CBS needs to know about these idiots expressing faux indignation.

In the first place most of them don't watch late night TV anyhow and they never have. They only know what they know about this Palin issue from what the RW Radio Hatemongers told them. Secondly, they are in a very small minority. These idiots are the extreme radical element of what is left of what used to be the Republican party, and the number in that party keep getting less with each passing day. Third, Palin is in the public arena. If she can't take a little heat from a late night talk show comedian she needs to get out of the kitchen. And fourth, what Latterman said in jest is mild by comparison to what has been uttered in all seriousness by the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter and O'Reilly. They are just trying to milk this for as much as they can get out of it. Nothing unusual here for them.

WAAAH!! No fair!!

This smells of "inside-baseball" Hollywood stuff to me.

I suspect someone behind the scenes is trying to use leverage to control who will appear on Letterman's show.

I have nothing besides my suspicions to go on, but it feels like it has PR written all over it.
