Obama Writes Girl A Note For Missing School
Kennedy Corpus Attended Obama Event In Green Bay, Wis.

RYAN J. FOLEY, Associated Press Writer
POSTED: 2:23 pm PDT June 11, 2009
UPDATED: 2:35 pm PDT June 11, 2009

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Ten-year-old Kennedy Corpus has a rock-solid excuse for missing the last day of school: a personal note to her teacher from President Barack Obama.

Her father, John Corpus of Green Bay, stood to ask Obama about health care during the president's town hall-style meeting at Southwest High School on Thursday. He told Obama that his daughter was missing school to attend the event and that he hoped she didn't get in trouble.

"Do you need me to write a note?" Obama asked. The crowd laughed, but the president was serious.

On a piece of paper, he wrote: "To Kennedy's teacher: Please excuse Kennedy's absence. She's with me. Barack Obama." He stepped off the stage to hand-deliver the note -- to Kennedy's surprise.

"I thought he was joking until he started walking down," Kennedy said after the event, showing off the note in front of a bank of television cameras. "It was like the best thing ever."

3. Perhaps in between writing notes to teachers, Obama can actually do something
to help people. Like, perhaps, put a stop to discrimination of gay people due to DADT.

Or put more pressure on Congress to pass a single payer health care option to cover EVERYONE in the United States.

Or work with AG Holder to investigate the Bush Administration for its war crimes, torture, and spying on American citizens in violation of the Constitution.

8. Unacceptable.
People are losing their jobs every day due to DADT.

People are dying every day to to lack of health care.

Patience is not an option.

9. So, you just want him to be a big bully and just do it?
Without going through proper channels... just do it?

He's made a lot of progress, and he's not sitting around cutting brush or picking out rugs.

I trust him to have a sense of priority. It may not be your priority, or mine, but I trust him to juggle it all and keep all his plates spinning at the same time.

It's been four months. Rome was not built in a day.

People are losing jobs and dying with or without DADT and health care, and they are losing their homes too. That's why we vote brilliant people into office whenever possible. They understand governmental triage, we don't.

13. You are correct. If Obama does not do things in a careful way
the change will not be long lasting. He must also
survive politically.

Obama will make the changes he promised, but in his way
and on his time line. And that is as it should be.

for health care reform. He took a couple of seconds to be human. I'm glad he did.

12. Positive press coverage translates into higher approval ratings...
Which translates into more Senators and Congressmen wanting to work with the President. Health care reform isn't accomplished overnight no matter how much time the President physically spends twisting peoples' arms.

4. Note the "S" in the word "she"
Looks like an 8... he's a freaking genius;) And the back-bowed "B" is another sign... supposedly.

Very interesting, and way too wicked cool for school! The teacher will no doubt get a photocopy... I wouldn't let that thing go for all the tea in China!

say so much about a person's character.

We've got ourselves a prez with soul, people. It's enough to make me weep with relief.

28. That's a keepsake!
It could become an important family heirloom. On the wall of my Father's office is one of my family's most cherished possessions. A framed letter that Abraham Lincoln wrote my great-great-great grandfather.

They should hold on to it!
