"More and more frightening e-mails.." "These People are out there" - Shepard Smith
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxvunbIWNyI

Shepard Smith probably just became enemy #1 of the rabid right-wingers and Freepers. He's calling them out and setting the record straight.

Watch this video, if you don't watch anything else today.

5. "They're feeding each other." Clue, folks: SO IS YOUR NETWORK
That is probably the first time I've ever watched anything from Faux that wasn't a clip on Olbermann or Maddow, but I was immediately struck by the truly preposterous irony that if anyone is feeding the hatemongers, chief among them have to be O'Reilly, Beck, etc.

What many of them seem to have forgotten is that the Nazis lost. And they lost in spades.

6. Yes indeed - they feed this bullshit
Shepard Smith is the lone voice of sanity on that network. I seriously doubt that after the backlash he's going to get and the campaign against him from the loyal goosesteppers of their audience he'll be employed much longer there.

Used the F-bomb and everything.

He did great during Katrina.

I've never watched his show, just seen clips, so I don't know if this is indicative of him in general or not.

If he does have integrity, why he is at Faux -- how he can stomach it -- is beyond me.

Maybe a few hypnotized fox viewers will be shaken from their slumber.

25. It happens with him once in a while, he was the guy who
yelled "Torture is Un-American" on a newscast. He was also quite honest and good during Katrina.

Also Fox just signed him to a new contract, he's not going anywhere.

10. He says the RWers are feeding each other in hate without the facts. Well ...
while Shepard isn't as bad as the others, he works for a 24/7 hate-filled/factless propaganda station.

So who's feeding who?

11. FAUX's version of "We never could have guessed they'd use planes ..."
.... this is their way of avoiding liability and culpability for the monsters they've fomented and spurned to action.
They germinated and groomed and set loose this Frankenstein monster of unbridled RW Fear and Hatred, and now they're acting
surprised? Please.

The chickens are marching home to roost Billo, Beck and Rush ... whatcha' gonna do about it now?

Every single anchor and commentator, even Murdoch himself, should be legally liable for the insanity that's going on in the name of
"American white christian straight marriage anti-immigrant purity bible blah blah" phobia.

14. Actually this insanity of the right has existed WELL BEFORE
Fox aired its first program.

Not that they have not ahem encouraged some of it... but it's been around for ahem decades.

And I hate to even seem to be defending Fox, which I am not. but this has been going on for oh right after the civil war, well before the first TV or radio transmission ever went on the air.

Seems like this is happening more and more with him.

Wonder how long before Fox gets fed up and replaces him.

21. I think despite FNC being the offical propaganda arm of the GOPers, there are people that work there
that aren't completely deluded by the party kool aid. The hate email they're getting must be an eye-opening experience to some like Shep Smith.

It could also be a way to distance FOX from the absolute racist nutters who if they become identified with will marginalize them with the majority of Americans. And that will effect viewership, ratings and revenue. Nothing is done at FOX without the blessing of the top managers. If Shep was pissing them off and didn't change his tune, he would be gone.

So although it seems surprising to hear this on FOX, it really is in their best interest to hold the white supremacists and the absolute crazy freeper mentality at arms length. Pandering to their base is one thing, but I really think being associated with terrorism and murder scares the bejeezus out of them. It remains to be seen if O'Looftah is going to be reigned in some by the FOX execs in the coming weeks.

He was also the guy who cried foul when no one was coming to rescue people during Hurricane Katrina.
It's either all an act or FOX just keeps him around to make it appear they have a conscience.

Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 05:00 PM by LaPera
These clowns are responsible for this idiot sheep hatred mentality, just as the pigman and they are just now shocked....where in the fuck have they been...fuck fox news...Are people going to tune and give their ratings and even high boost because of this obvious revelation...

Fuck Fox news and everyone drawing their big paychecks each week who work for that filthy slimy organization...I won't watch...and anyone who does is contributing to Fox' ratings and hence encouraging Fox through the ratings for more of Fox news lies and hate!

Give your ratings to The Ed Show, Keith Olbermann's Countdown & Rachel Maddow they certainly could use them and are the only fucking people on TV who consistently counter the lies Fox news spews out each & every day...and if they get ratings it's only time before others like CNN and the networks start offering a progressive point of view....why give your rating dollars to fox for more ad dollars?
