1. How many minutes of focus do you want?
And what sort of civil rights are you talking about?

But I would guess that the Iraq Funding bill will probably have priority.

3. This is the answer I expected....
There is always another priority.

How about equal education for minorities? Or...hold on....equal marriage rights for the GLBT community?

Still on the back burner. I know. But keep given us those votes. Keep the faith. We'll get to it eventually.

4. I don't know
Iraq seems like a more pressing problem because people are dying.

2. If they didn't close for Holy Week
people would be ranting and raving. Now that they have, because they have followed tradition, people are ranting and raving. Poor congress guess they just can't win. Just they can't just put 1000 items at once on the burner...but the one the country wants most is IMPEACHMENT OF BUSH AND CHENEY.

5. Funny, visiting Middle Easter dictators doesn't sound like a vacation to me.
Our Lady of San Francisco has been on a working vacation.

Hey, our Dems have been working more days and longer hours than the Repubs ever did. They have actually managed to pass all of those pesky budget bills (for the current year's budget that they should have passed before Oct 1, 2006). I'm sure they need a break to recharge (their re-election accounts :)).

I'm not sure what the agenda is, but I don't think they want to bring up any really highly charged bills just yet. No sense in giving the fundies more ammunition. Unfortunately, the Iraq funding bill will dominate the debate for the next couple of months.

6. Patience. So much needs to be done after 6 years of quasi-totalitarian rule
that goes on even now.

I am just saying that it has been a mere 3 months, and the Democrats, whom we once reviled (at the same time we supported them even still) as spineless have now found their backbone, their patriotism and their honor.

Patience. They are moving as fast as they can. Considering Lil' Boots Bushler is proceeding as if November 2006 didn't even happen, it makes even more sense that they prioritized the investigations.

Remember, Dodd I believe introduced a bill to restore habeus corpus, and I believe other bills were introduce to restore some Civil Rights already. They are wending their way through the system and others will follow.

I know it's hard. I share your feelings. But patience. The system seems to be working, and it takes time.

7. Yeah, why can't the slim dem majority just change everything in 2 months?
For fuck's sake, what do you want?

They're supposed to end one war, prevent two others, impeach, deal with gonzogate, deal with plamegate, fix New Orleans, fix tax laws, end poverty, institute universal healthcare and end discrimination.

Fuckity fuck.

There is no more important issue for me than civil rights. But I can also see how much is on the plate.
