Airbus A320 forced to make emergency landing in Canary Islands
An Airbus A320 with 180 Norwegian tourists has been forced to return to Gran Canaria island shortly after take-off amid passenger claims that one of its engines caught fire.

The Spanish airport authority AENA said that the plane, which belonged to the Spanish airline Iberworld, experienced engine problems after taking off for the Norwegian capital Oslo.

An AENA spokeswoman denied reports of a fire but several passengers were reported in Norwegian media as saying that they had seen flames and heard explosions aboard the twin-engined airline.

1. Statistically you have a 1000 times better chance of dying in your car
on the way to the airport.

8. Statistically, you have a better chance of surviving a car accident then you do a plane.

10. The immortal Satchel Paige had this to say about air travel:
"They may kill you, but they ain't likely to hurt you much."

11. What's that got to do with the chances of dying in a plane crash v. a car crash?
Nothing.

5. Buy American.
Boeing will begin building production 787 soon.

More fuel efficient per passenger and less likely to fall from the sky than an Airbus jet.

6. And the sad thing is that...
there are some people who will actually believe what you said. When an air crash happens; especially if it's a non American made plane you always get some mixed nuts coming out saying it crashed because it's not American made. I mean jezz, Europeans have been making planes as long as the Americans; it's not like they just learned the technology in the last decade. Like last night there was some fellow who presented the crash of the Comet as proof beyond doubt that Europeans do not know how to make planes! :eyes:

9. Personally I don't trust airbus.
A lot of their explanations for crashes have been flakey at best.

Tail ripped off because a experience pilot/co-pilot with 40+ years combined experience pull back so hard on the stick it damaged the tail to the point of structure collapse? Sorry I just don't buy it.
