New York Sun says Cheney should run for Prez in 2008.
Just when you thought you'd heard it all. . .

"Mr. Cheney has virtues as a candidate in his own right. He has foreign policy experience by virtue of having served as defense secretary, and he has economic policy experience, having served as a leading tax-cutter while a member of the House of Representatives. His wife, Lynne, would be an asset to the ticket in her own right, a point made by Kathryn Jean Lopez in a post on the topic at National Review Online back in February. By our rights, Lynne Cheney would make one of the greatest First Ladies in history. Mr. Cheney, in any event, is more than four years younger than Mr. McCain, and, if elected, would be 67 years old at his inauguration, younger than Reagan was when he took office. His health, while a topic of frequent speculation, hasn't interfered with his service as vice president."

1. Please run please run please run.
I'd love to see a Rethug candidate not get a single vote from anyone, and I think Deadeye is the sort of guy who can pull it off.

Rudy just reaffirmed his support for government funding for abortion Romeny wears funny underwear and believes Christ visited the US and McCain is apparently brain dead, you can just smell the fear.

16. The comments on that page are astounding!
It's enough to make me wonder just what kinds of (in)humans live amongst us.

Do these people have nothing inside? No heart. No brain. No reasoning faculties? God! I guess after all of this time on the planet, I shouldn't still be shocked by things like this. The empty shall always be with us, I suppose.

32. on Morning Edition - a protest (including repubs) at BYU
against Cheney speaking at graduation.

And - they mentioned that while usually Univs. make the invitation to high profile speakers, that Cheney's folks approached BYU and *asked* to be able to speak.

Back to the story at hand, almost makes you wonder if the NYSun has some political subversives working for them who just parade at being loyal repubs cause what they advocate would certainly tank the Repub party.

42. Hmm. So Uncle Dick's people approached the BYU people.
That's just not the same, is it? And so once he shows up there's a rare protest.

I kind of like the idea of conservative students protesting tyrant Cheney.

There was an ominous quality to the photographs of Cheney lurking in the peripheral bushes during Dubya's presser. Kind of the way he operates all the time.

44. it is like they have been hit by a truck - but don't quite yet realize it
sorta like Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense movie - Willis keeps operating as life is normal and isn't reflective as to what some of the odd changes mean. But Dick's hding in the bushes (pun intended) does sorta indicate that he is a little more aware than bush about the sea change that has occured.

45. Yes. As repellent as Dick Cheney is, he is smart. Sort of like a
giant lizard who has somehow evolved.

But all his smarts are given over to the corporate state, and to public statements dividing segments of the population against each other.

Sycophant: "Sir, we have determined that you received negative seven percent of the vote. We're not certain how."

What states would Cheney carry? Texas, Utah, Denial, and maybe Idaho.

Edit: I heard Junior could run because if you take into account all the time he's been on vacation he's only served one term.

Serve one year, retire for health reasons and install yet another Bush in the White House without the voters having a direct say in the matter.

35. First of all, Crashcart isn't what you'd call "approachable".
Cheney is as closed-boardroom, behind-the-schemes as you can get, and that's how he prefers it.

Secondly, and Repukes know this, we could run a shoebox against Cheney and win. He's the most hated VP in history, and yes I have heard of Spiro Agnew. There were more than a few Repubs at one point who saw him as a "drag" on the party, representing the corrupt 80s Republicans in a new CEO-suited evil.
