Rush today: Obama was "up there and he's ripping Germany, what it did 60, 65 years ago. . ."
He was at Buchenwald, Rush. If you had any education or curiosity whatsover, you might know what that meant. Plus, he acknowledged the German people for honestly confronting their past. But your blind, obsessive hatred means you can't see anything - not the Holocaust, not its victims, not Germany's attempts to come to terms, not Elie Wiesel's comments, not Obama's honesty and integrity about the issue. Only your narrow hatred - solidified by 20 years of the same blather 3 hours a day - matters to you and those whose minds you have poisoned.

The rest of Rush's quote went like this: ". . . blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah -- one day, one day after praising to the hilt Islam and talking about how Islam is a nation -- America is a Muslim nation and so forth."

Again, he was at Buchenwald, Rush. That means something to those of us other than your dittoheads, who worship you without question. The rest of us have learned something from history, about which you are profoundly ignorant, amazing to me given that we were born in the same year.

Born into privilege, yet you are one of the most ignorant and uncurious Americans to ever live. That in itself is curious. You keep getting away with your leadership of the lynch mob, Rush, and if anything should befall the president, your next step will be to use it - along with your orc minions - to intimidate not just progressives, but decent people everywhere.

To paraphrase Joseph Welch: Rush, you've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

I can answer that. You do not, and have not for at least 20 years. What Germany did, the president did rip. But he did not rip the nation. And all decent people think what was done at Buchenwald was indecent. You do not, apparently, Rush. Which defines you yet again. We can only consider ourselves fortunate that June 6 falls on a Saturday, and that the president in Normandy does not provide you on that day with the opportunity to ridicule and dismiss those who helped liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny the way you today disgraced the memory of those who died in the Holocaust, and those who fought to end it.

1. Is there a reason we SHOULDN'T be ripping Germany for what it did 65 years ago?
Now, 60 years ago, it was 1949, and Rush probably would freak out if Obama ripped West Germany for not electing the Social Democrats in the country's first postwar election.

(Question that just came to me: is it possible that, like Prescott Bush, someone in the Limbaugh family had some investments in certain countries in the Thirties or Forties that Rush would rather not have us find out about?)

11. UH, you're own post actually refuted your point
64 years and 1 month ago, Germany surrendered. 65 years ago (June 6, 1944) German troops about to inflict heavy losses on Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy(our side took the beach, but at great cost). And before that, they were still holding almost all of Europe under a brutal military occupation and continuing the massacre of Jews, Marxists, LGBT people,, Roma, and even Jehovah's witnesses.

So, 65 years ago, they were still doing quite a lot of stuff that merited "ripping".

Rush is echoing Joe McCarthy, who in his early Senate career pushed for leniency for former Nazi soldiers, and the early U.S. Cold Warriors, who were mocking and insulting the memory of all who perished in that war by recruiting Nazi scientists to build rockets for the Pentagon and later the space program(like that charming war criminal Werner Von Braun.)

7. No need in challenging the (lack of substance) of this stupidity...
But isn't it ironic that now he cares what "old Europe" thinks of us? This was today's right wing talking point it seems - alienating allies.

Edited on Fri Jun-05-09 09:51 PM by liberalmuse
And they were good people. The truth is, even good human beings can become monsters. We'd be wise not to forget that. And WHO IN THE FUCK TAKES THE SIDE OF THE HOLOCAUST? "Poor Holocaust. Stop picking on it!" Oh yeah, Rush, Newt, Pat and their ilk.

13. They were an advanced, educated society-they were not good
or the Holocaust could not have happened. That is what's so frightening about the event.

16. If Rush would have lived in Gemany 65 years ago....
he probably would have been a member of the SS shooting Jews at Auschwitz.

Anything that isn't pro-straight white Protestant male with a lot of money is the enemy to him...plus, he's got a real bully mentality.
