Dumbya to Pickles tonight:
"Oh the humanity! The soldiers at Fort Irwin didn't clap for anything I said about giving the troops support! No one clapped for any of my spin about supporting them when I don't give a damn about their training, extended tours, or abrevated stays at home."

"Oh George! Barney, Joe Lieberman, and I still love you!"
~~~~
Keith Olbermann said tonight that none of the soldiers clapped for Bush's* crappy speech, even when he made time for them to applaud. I think all Bush* could hear was them chewing their lunch.
6. Yeah, you're right. And dime-bag Laura will just walk out onto the
Truman balcony for another smoke after popping a few more pills to help her forget.
2. I loved it! The soldiers are 'required' to be there, but I guess they're
not 'required' to clap!
:applause: :applause:
5. Yeah, since they got caught photoshopping their level of support
with the background troops a couple of years ago, they are sticking with what they believe are safe venues for the chimperor.
KO also discussed Rove's pelting, and how *'s handlers make sure he has only the most loyal audience around him.
have to attend.
9. Given the rumors,
I doubt that Laura would include herself in that list. And I'll bet Barney is iffy, leaving only Lieberman.
12. I was stationed at Wiesbaden Germany when AF1 flew in w/Jimmy
Carter. We were the 4th Bde(FWD) of the 4ID, I was w/the 3/60 AR at the time. We did the whole dog and pony show for the Brass, and although I didn't get to talk to Carter, some others did, and said he was a really nice down to earth guy. Wiesbaden Air Base was and old Luftwaffe base, and a great place to be posted. Morale was at an all-time high and we knew what we were there for...basically, we were there to plug the Fulda Gap if the E. Germans/Soviets poured through. I think we had a life expectancy of 20 minutes, but we knew what could happen, and we were ready, come what may.
Anyway, those that did get to talk to him, said he listened to them, and there was nothing phony about him, he was in shirtsleeves and was a warm and endearing person. A lot of the talk was about hometowns, states and girlfriends, etc. Not much about the military, except when he was talking to the Col and the rest of the Brass. Everyone I spoke to that talked to him said he didn't talk GI stuff, just good old folksy stuff...:D
bush can't even get a captured audience to smile, they know what they are going to do, and they are not happy. He has lost the faith of those who serve to defend freedom, he has played out his hand.
13. That's a great post. I hope you'll consider sending it on to president
Carter to let him know how he is remembered by the people who've met him.
I see him as an honest and sincere gentleman. He won't lie to us.
16. Carter is severly underated, considering that Nixon left Ford a mess
to contend with, and a good portion of that mess was left to Carter. Then came a series of serious problems...When Iran blew out of control, it was pretty well all over.
People thought they were getting a "tough guy" when Reagan got in, but the Beruit bombing, and Reagan pulling out, he set up the rest of the Middle East for a disaster, Carter was trying, but micro-management is a bad style in those cases.
FWIW, another thing about Carter, is that he was chosen for the nuclear Navy, and took a 4 year program compressed into 14 months, some 150 officers were chosen, and Carter was one of the 12 that made it. One of the reasons he was criticized for was going to 3 Mile Island to look over the nuke plant there. No one mentioned he had a degree in nuclear physics...smart man...;)
