That's Baucus' office. I just called and a staffer answered after two rings. He listened patiently to my complaint, even when I told him that I didn't expect Baucus to change his mind on single-payer. He also listened when I expressed no hope that Baucus would change his position because he has clearly demonstrated that he doesn't give a damn what voters think; but he can't pretend to be unaware of our disapproval.

The woman who answered the phone sounded hassled and harried. When I said that I was disappointed that Baucus stated that single payer wasn't even an option and was he in the insurance companies pockets, she asked me what advocacy group I represented. I told her that I'm just a guy who is sitting in his living room in Davenport, Iowa and therefore represented me. Then I told her that I likely will never live in Montana (no offense to Montanans) but I would be keeping an eye on the race up there and possibly donating $ to his opponent should he not at least consider single payer option. Then I wished her a great day and we parted ways. She never once said thank you, although she did say she would pass my concerns on to the Senator (yeah right).
On edit- I also called Senators Harkin and Grassley earlier today. Grassley's office put me on hold. And one more thing. Did anyone else hear a lot of background noise when calling Baucus' office number? I did and I wonder about it. Just nosiness, er, curiousity I guess.
