New Rasmussen poll on Sotomayor at odds with all others
Edited on Wed Jun-03-09 12:50 PM by AlexanderProgressive
A new poll on Sonia Sotomayor by right-wing pollster Scott Rasmussen has been released. Its results differ significantly from results in other recent similar polls. Here is a comparision:

Rasmussen (June 1-2):
Confirm/Do not confirm her nomination: 41%-36%

AP/GfK (May 28-June 1)
Confirm/Do not confirm: 50%-22%

USA Today/Gallup: (May 29-31)
Confirm/Do not confirm: 54-28%

link to all Sotomayor polls.

1. Rasmussen's is the poll most often quoted by OxyRush LameBoy.

That should be a good indication of how reliable and objective they are (not).

3. right
they are always the most GOP friendly; even had McCain looking like he had momentum to catch Obama a week or so before the election. I believe they had GOP carrying NC by 14 points, so they have no credibility.

4. Some argue that Rasmussen has been historically accurate, but that's a flawed argument
Rasmussen is not stupid. He knows he cannot make up crappy poll numbers before an election, since the election results can and will be used as a measuring stick that will determine whether polls were right or wrong.

But in the case of abortion polls, Sotomayor polls, etc., Rasmussen knows he can get away with pulling our legs, because there won't be general elections or a referendum on those subjects; therefore nobody can prove Rasmussen wrong or right on the incredible poll results he comes up with in non-election polls.

Note that in the instances that Rasmussen has been the most accurate election pollster, other pollsters have been very close behind. But when it comes to non-election, wedge-issues polls, Rasmussen's results are way different (always favoring the conservative side) than other pollsters; that is, it's not even close.

5. So, why bother posting this garbage then? And your argument is a little off
as all of the Rasmussen polls of late have shown President Obama with a much lower approval rating than all other polls.

So, he does in fact fudge the numbers even when there are much more credible sources out there to refute his numbers.

The guy is a hack!

8. I don't trust Rasmussen polls
In election polls he's accurate. In non-election polls (that is, abortion, Sotomayor, approval rating, etc.) he seems to make numbers up. That's why i posted this particular poll: To emphasize how out of touch he is with other pollsters in this and other issues.

6. Where did Rassmussen take this poll?
The House Republican caucus and the Rush Limbaugh fan club?

7. Sounds as if the Poll was done among Republicans ONLY.
