What is an"unsigned opinion"?
Edited on Tue Jun-02-09 06:01 PM by AlexanderProgressive
I'd like to learn what an "unsigned opinion" is. I fail to see the importance of the lack of signature from members of a court whose names we already know. Why are some in the right angry that Sotomayor's signature wasn't in the opinion that we know she agreed with?

3. The next question was already asked
I asked why the signature is important if the identity of the judges presiding in those courts is no secret to anyone.

2. Just what the name implies
Usually issued by an appellate court panel when there is no dissent or significant additional information one of the judges wants to emphasize, the fact that an opinion is unsigned really doesn't mean anything.

Why the right is angry about an unsigned opinion issued by a panel on which Sotomayor sat? Well, they have to be angry about something, and they're hoping that by ginning up another fake controversy where there is none, they can cast some sort of shadow on Sotomayor's record. These are the same dimwits who were "outraged" by John Kerry's Purple Heart medals, Barack Obama's birth certificate, Hillary Clinton's hairdo, and Al Franken's existence. The larger mystery is why such empty-headed ersatz dudgeon is given a national platform by media outlets that know they're fomenting manufactured indignation about nothing.
