Edwards supports congressional efforts on Iraq war

BREAKING NEWS: (Updated: 3:10 p.m.) Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said today the plan to use Congress' spending authority to force President Bush to draw down U.S. troop presence in Iraq by next March "makes sense."

Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina and the party's vice presidential candidate in 2004, campaigned in Davenport today, the second of a two-day swing through the state.

In an interview with the Quad-City Times, he was asked whether supports legislation authored by U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., that would end funding for the war effort by next March except in limited circumstances.
