I enjoyed the show for the first time in years.

First, Conan's strong point is not the monologue it's sketch comedy. I think we will see much more of that than on Jay's show. I thought the first gag of Conan running cross country to get to his new studio in California was hilarious--only to find he left the keys behind.

Your thoughts?

1. I think bringing back Andy Richter is a mistake
But other than that, it's the same old Conan. That's good.

2. still not funny. 12:30, 11:30 doesnt matter. Maybe Jay will come back when his 10P slot flops
who am I kidding, I like Letterman or Ferguson whenever I do watch (usually one hour a week)

4. I still intend to watch Letterman, too, but I had to see how Conan's first show went.

7. Conan, Leno, and Fallon look like public access compared to Dave and Craig Ferguson

5. Why is it Conan kinda irritates me? I will say I like him better than Leno..
A LOT better.

But nobody can hold a candle to Dave.

6. O'Brien is even more annoying than Leno. I'll stick with Letterman.

8. frankly, I thought it sucked . . . he's not going to hold Leno's audience . . .
and better hope that the audience from his late show migrates to the earlier time slot . . . having Leno as his lead-in before the new five nights a week isn't going to help him either . . .

10. Leno's ratings TANKED in comparison to Johnny Carson's--his show was in real trouble.
Leno had a dark purple set and Marsalis (who refused to do jokes) leading the band initially--not enough humor and the whole program was lumpy and ponderous. Many people direly predicted the demise of the Tonight Show franchise.

But Leno "retooled." And he built a successful show. I think Conan is as capable of competing as anyone. He'll carve out his fan base, and that will be that. Letterman gets the New York guests, Conan will get more of the Hollywood guests.

9. I think Andy Richter is WONDERFUL. I thought Conan's show got worse when he left.
It was a fun program--the bit about the TAURUS was a scream.

Problem is, I like Letterman too, so I may have to start taping one or the other. I'll probably be flipping the remote a lot.

12. Some funny parts, but he's going to fail at that hour.
Leno routinely beat Letterman. Conan will pull The Tonight Show down.
