Case Report about Dr. Tiller refusing to offer an abortion - lack of medical necessity, saved child
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 11:57 PM by usregimechange
For the sake of my family's and especially my son's privacy, I've not often told the story in full detail....and won't now.....

Let's just say that my son is adopted, and that his bio mom had traveled a long way from out of state to visit Tiller's office for an abortion. I don't know all the details of Tiller's protocols, but she didn't meet them, and Tiller refused to abort her. She was showing signs of premature labor, and that was PART of the protocol against abortion. There were other factors. Thereafter, she attempted to abort herself thereby successfully inducing her own premature labor. Tiller AGAIN refused to abort her, but sent her to a hospital, where my son was born by an emergency c-section.

Like many other physicians and attorneys, Tiller maintained a waiting list of couples waiting to adopt "unaborted" babies. My wife and I paid a substantial (by OUR standards) amount of $ to be on his "referral list), hoping that it would encourage him to SAVE a kid.

The notion that Tiller sat around with a club waiting to smack babies born alive is ludicrous. While he had looser standards than many other abortion providers, he still maintained SOME protocols. The notion that he aborted every pregnancy that appeared in his office is also wrong.

Nobody likes the notion of abortion, but women have been seeking them for centuries. Everyone has their own notion of hos best to reduce the numbers. Some folks protest, and vote "pro-life". Some folks bomb Tiller's clinic. Some folks teach morality in Sunday School. My wife and I chose to do the latter, and also to spend our own cash getting on Tiller"s "referral list". It was our way of reducing the numbers.

There's lots more to the story. I'm not campaigning for sainthood for either Tiller, or myself. We're all going to have to do some serious "explaining" to our maker about our actions on this earth. NO doubt, Dr. Tiller will have MUCH to discuss with the great I AM. I'm just saying that he had the opportunity to abort my son, and didn't. Call it conscience, call it professional protocol, call it Divine Intervention, call it what you wish. Believing the worst about Tiller, probably didn't help.

Apparently O'Reilly's "reporting" that Tiller offered abortions for any reason was complete BS, not that you needed me to tell you that.

1. "If you have five thousand dollars,
Dr. Tiller will abort your baby even if you're nine months pregnant."

Bill O'Reilly.

And NO ONE CHALLENGES HIM WHEN HE MAKES THESE BULLSHIT CLAIMS!!!!

Why not? Why have these people gotten away with this crap for so long? Why does it take the horrid death of a good man for all of us - me included - to sit up and take notice and get angry?

They have to be called on every one of their fucking claims every time they make one.

KO does a good job, and for that I commend him, but he's only one man .....................

12. That's what I hope, too ......
That's what I've advocated since I first learned about civil actions my first year in law school. The Southern Poverty Law Center finally caught on and started doing just that with White Power groups. Bankrupted them right out of existence, and, in one case, got the ownership of their headquarters for a nice African-American woman and her son who had been terrorized by those punks.

Remember that the Feds finally got Al Capone on a tax rap?

"Follow the money" has more than one meaning.

I hope they sue Operation Rescue, Army of God, and every damn one of those filthy outfits..........................

your point well taken and reinforces this is a highly personal, private matter, undertaken by families and -- if they are allowed to practive or even live -- doctors with integrity.

5. that's important, but at the same time inappropriate
I'm not criticizing your posting this, but there's something wrong about having to defend him this way.

He was prosecuted for performing some abortions and was acquitted in a court of law.

He is now dead. The last person that should be defended is Dr. Tiller.

11. because he already defended himself and won
the prosecutor brought his best case, all the evidence was heard, and Tiller was found not guilty. Now he's dead and it seems he's back on trial and that seems messed up to me.

13. No, he needs defending now more than ever -
a courtroom is not the only place where Dr. Tiller was attacked.

He was attacked in 1993, shot in both arms.

He was attacked yesterday, in a church.

The man will need defending as long as people demand that someone be prosecuted, or murdered, for doing a perfectly valid and legitimate part of his profession..................

of giving voice to the naysayers.

7. Hannity, O'Lielly, Limpballs....all cut from the same cloth. I would immediately
question ANYTHING they said.
They are the types that would pee on your shoes and tell you it is raining...and then say you were crazy if you expressed any doubt about what they told you...

Edited on Tue Jun-02-09 12:43 AM by Tangerine LaBamba
all of them, along with the Army of God, Operation Rescue, all those people who contributed to her husband's murder.

That's the only way, I honestly believe, these fuckers are going to be stopped. Back them into bankruptcy, same way the Southern Poverty Law Center went after the white power assholes. They folded......................

20. excellent idea. They contributed to Dr Tiller's civil rights being taken from him.
Doesn't he have the right to practice medicine...legal medical procedures for which he is licensed?
I hope they get their asses sued off....

22. Why do you say Tiller will have to answer to God? Are you judging him?
This paragraph of yours scares me.

"Nobody likes the notion of abortion, but women have been seeking them for centuries. Everyone has their own notion of hos best to reduce the numbers. Some folks protest, and vote "pro-life". You are so casual about the bombing. Am I reading that right?

You do not sound pro-choice.

I think Roeder and those like him are the ones who will answer to God.

Have all of you read the OP carefully and all the implications of his having to answer to the great I AM?
