So why is this not Christianist terror? - Andrew Sullivan
As someone who has always called what the Jihadists do terrorism, could I get a response from Malkin as to whether she believes this Christianist murder is terrorism as well? Imagine an Islamist fanatic had assassinated a pro-Israel rabbi in a synagogue, and had harassed synagogues for years, including one arrest for bomb materials in his car. Imagine if one of his associates had tried to kill the rabbi before. Would there be any question that this was Islamist terror? So why is this not Christianist terror?

1. Because in the US the word Christian is
synonymous with good; as in "that was very Christian of him."

3. it is, of course, and it's effective terrorism
Doctors will look at this and the other murders and ask if it's worth it to do abortions. Some will understandably decide not to risk it.

8. *Most * of them have *already* decided not to take the risk.
That's why this clinic is the only one in the whole midwest performing late term abortions. Many states have *no* abortion provider at all. I think no-one should be able to call her/himself an obstetrician/ gynecologist unless they know how to, and actually do, perform abortions.

5. Most Christians refuse to accept that there is any such thing as
Christian Terrorists even though they easily believe in Muslim Terrorists. Other religions can produce terrorists, but not their own, because their own only produces enlightened people. Anyone who isn't enlightened wasn't really a Christian apparently.

"If they can get you to believe absurdities then they can get you to commit atrocities."

Any religion can produce terrorists if people take it too seriously and don't question it.

6. Christianity is prevail in many regions because it facilitated conquerors.
That was particularly true of Central and South America, but all of Europe, too.

7. Maybe because words have meanings
A Jihadist is a Muslim that engages in a Holy War as a religious duty. There are sadly a small but significant element within Islam that advocates a holy war.

I'm not sure what a Christianist means, but assuming it mean one that practices Christianity where are no religious duties that include killing abortion doctors within Christendom.

The attempt to smear a religion because of one or two morons is just silly.

11. the problem is not a religion per se...
... but radical, intolerant, militant fundamentalism.

as a graphic illustration, see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5761739&mesg_id=5761739

and no, we're not talking "one or two morons" here, it's nearly institutionalized, with the blessing of conservative/main$tream media.

another example from one of today's threads:

Anonymous: Over the past few years, Bill O'Reilly has made the following comments about Dr. Tiller:

- He "destroys fetuses for just about any reason right up until the birth date for $5,000."

- He's guilty of "Nazi stuff,"

- a moral equivalent to NAMBLA and al-Qaida

- "This is the kind of stuff that happened in Mao's China, Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Soviet Union"

- "operating a death mill"

- "has blood on his hands"

- "executing babies about to be born

Tucker, I'm not saying Billo wanted some kook to kill him, but isn't this playing with fire? Is there some quote by Olberman or any other liberal commentator that even comes close? Who has the craziest of the liberal left murdered lately?

Tucker Carlson: Every one of those descriptions of Tiller is objectively true. I sincerely think it's appalling that he was murdered. But Tiller was a monster, no doubt.

16. You agree there is a distinction between advocating
a pro-life position and advocating the murder of abortion doctors?

People have the right to believe what they want. The problem I have with the label of Christian terrorist juxtaposed against a Jihadist is that there are no Christian doctrines in any form that advocate the murder of anyone. While the very definition of Jihadist is that of a Holy warrior that is sadly backed up by Islamic doctrine.

13. Jihad=Crusade and Crusade=Jihad
Two words that mean the same thing, religious war.

And indeed, there are Christians who believe that it is their religious duty to kill abortion providers, they have been doing so for decades now.

How many Iraqis have died thanks to Christians? Here's a hint, orders of magnitude more than the number of Christians who died on 9/11/2001.

How many Iraqis have died due to Christian in the last 20 years?

Can you show me any Christian doctrines or Christian leaders that advocate murdering abortion doctors? Any sermons or speeches from Cristian Churches advocating the murder of abortion doctors?

DO you have anything to back up your claim?

17. I haven't seen crowds of athiests outside abortion providers..
Have you?

And George W Bush specifically used the word "crusade" in reference to the attack on Iraq, indeed he has said that God told him to attack Iraq.

I consider both an act by a person and won't call one christian terrorism or the other islamic terrorism - I'm consistent at least.

20. However
If some leftie went down to the local car dealership and set a bunch of Hummers on fire, every news outlet in the country would be shrieking "Eco-Terrorism."

However, when a human being is killed by a Christian terrorist -- not a peep.
