I'm watching Rachel recite
the list of attacks, bombings and murders perpetrated against abortion clinics and providers.

If this is Christianity, then my growing revulsion of that religion over the last eight years is now complete. I realize that there are many Christians who are equally as repulsed by this act as am I; but the fact that these people are doing this in the name of Christ is unspeakable.

"lone actor" dismissal.

8. I heard no dismissal regarding the lone actor
Turley made it clear that this is the most dangerous type and likened Tiller's killer to Timothy McVeigh. That's hardly a dismissal.

9. Quoting bullshit about civil liberties & we can't do anything about it, oh well, the FBI is doing a
great job on this - BULLSHIT.

Unless someone is getting a blow job, he hardly sounds concerned.

Fuck Turley.

14. You are wrong .........
There are freedoms that must be protected, and sometimes that requires protecting people we despise.

It's a real test of our democracy, and I'm voting for the Constitution........................

25. That's your take on it,
and, beautifully, you're free to say it.

See how that "free speech" thing works?

It's hardly "a cop out." It's exactly how the First Amendment should work. As I posted elsewhere, there are other legal ways to shut down these groups, without endangering our most cherished rights ............................................

28. you're right, guess I'm in the minority in wanting to curb incitement to violence.
Free speech for terroristic threats never seemed to be constitutionally protected to me, but yeah, that's only my opinion.

26. It's a good thing that the law and our rights aren't depending on you and your opinion
Otherwise, Tiller's killer could be hanging from a tree somewhere. I say "No thanks" to your take on civil liberties. I'd rather live in an America where we're left with some rights.

Please take the last word. I'm done with you and your knee jerk spewing, "Justitia". Now there's an irony.

27. Sorry, I don't believe incitement to violence is a protected form of speech. You do.
Just what the fuck does denouncing incitement to violence have to do with lynching? What pathetic hyperbole.

"Left with some rights?" Yeah, because I think it's wrong to protect terroristic threats I'm shredding your Constitutional right to life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness - now, that's EXTREMIST logic right there.

12. I hate this,
but Turley and I agree.

The most hateful speech requires the most protection. That's an old saying in Constitutional Law classes, but it also happens to be true.

When you tell someone they cannot speak, what will you do when someone tells you that your words are to be silenced?

18. Well, gee, how does EVERY OTHER CIVILIZED first world country handle these freaks successfully?
I'm sorry this shit is uniquely American and I completely disagree that Americans are somehow incapable of protecting it's citizens AND protecting free speech.

I've lived in other countries and no fucking way would terrorism against women & their doctors be allowed there under the cloak of "free speech! free speech!" - it's bullshit.

Not turning a blind eye to incitement of violence is NOT the same thing as silencing responsible political dissent.

Moral equivalence is BULLSHIT and a cop out to give the freak fringe more latitude than the average citizen.

24. You're talking about two different things -
if a group advocates violence, and that's provable - of course it is - yes, I agree that the full force of the law should be turned on them.

The trick is that these fuckers know so well how to use language so that it's just on this side of legal, it's almost impossible to nail them.

They know that they're playing to the unhinged, like Dr. Tiller's murderer, but they sit back and, quite legitimately, say that they never espoused violence.

There are other ways to get them Civil actions have had a dramatic effect on the racist skinhead groups, and I'd like to see Dr. Tiler's family file civil suits against the Army of God, Operation Rescue, and whatever the hell other groups are part of this ugliest of ugly family.

Remember how they finally got Al Capone?

That's how these people have to be 'gotten'.

It leaves free speech sacrosanct....................................

Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 09:38 PM by Justitia
I think that is wrong and an embarrassment to our country.

It's also inconsistent, bad law and yet an example of why our Constitution has been amended 27 times, and interpreted a thousand different subjective ways.

7. Even the KKK (with its burning cross) proclaims 'faith' ... but killers can LIE.
To give them any kind of 'credit' for their paranoid, delusional, and sociopathic mutterings -- ANY kind -- including the false cloak of 'faith' -- is to give them FAR more respect than they deserve.

Indeed, one could suspect that acting in ALLIANCE with these despicable people and beating the drums of hatred ... this time against "Christianity" ... is a kindred act of paranoia.
