anti-choice group Operation Rescue....statement on tiller
Edited on Sun May-31-09 03:30 PM by spanone
"We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down," anti-abortion group Operation Rescue said in a statement on its Web site. "Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ."

Typical condescending "prayers" from hateful people
Kind of like how the religious right "prays" for Presidents Clinton and Obama.

3. Here's the Priests for Life statement:
Edited on Sun May-31-09 03:27 PM by Mrs. Overall
"I am saddened to hear of the killing of George Tiller this morning. At this point, we do not know the motives of this act, or who is behind it, whether an angry post-abortive man or woman, or a misguided activist, or an enemy within the abortion industry, or a political enemy frustrated with the way Tiller has escaped prosecution. We should not jump to conclusions or rush to judgment."

Very strangely worded in places.

9. Their "saddened" because this murder derails their "movement". Nothing more.
And of course the "priests for life" manage to get a few digs in as well in their disingenuous statement.

Some guy who didn't get asked for permission before she had the abortion? Boo fucking hoo.

15. "Escaped proscecution"?
Besides being idiots, they're ignorant.

"...Prosecutors had alleged that Tiller had gotten second opinions from a doctor who was essentially an employee of his, not independent as state law requires, but a jury in March acquitted him of all 19 misdemeanor counts against him."

24. I don't think Randall Terry is the head of that group any more.
His personal life got too messy and controversial, even for them.

He is still scum. If I got close enough to him, I would be very tempted to snatch him bald. He looks like he wears my grandmother's wig anyway.

23. What crime did Tiller commit? The American Taliban said they want him "brought to justice," but ...
... that would mean he committed some crime.

What crime did the doctor commit that would necessitate him being "brought to justice"?

25. He refused to turn over medical records to a radical prosecutor
He protected his patients' rights to privacy, like federal law demands. The Talibornagains think their puerile interests and ability to stalk women who had abortions trumps the law.

and it doesn't matter what OR wants. They just had a RW pol go after him for not giving up records. The pol isn't anymore.

31. 2 months ago he was acquitted of 19 counts...these people made his life miserable
In addition to fending off abortion protesters for years, Tiller had been pursued by public officials opposed to abortion.

In March, he was acquitted of charges that he broke a Kansas law requiring a second doctor to affirm that a late-term abortion was necessary to preserve the health of the woman. That second doctor must be financially and legally independent from the first physician.

In a trial that lasted five days -- and in which the jury took less than an hour to return its verdict -- Tiller was cleared of charges that he had improper ties to Dr. Ann Kristin Neuhaus.http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-tiller1-2009jun01,0,7068875.story

33. The law didn't do what they wanted so a vigilante was created
as planned, no doubt. That post the accuses shooter made hoping people from OR would go to Tiller's church was telling. He wanted a friendly audience to lavish approval on him.
