Lindsey Graham Breaks With Gingrich, Limbaugh: Sotomayor Is Not "Racist" (VIDEO)
Two influential Republican senators, Lindsey Graham and Jeff Sessions, broke with controversial comments made by Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh calling President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor "racist."

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, while expressing concern about Sotomayor's comments regarding the ability of a "wise Latina" to reach a better conclusion than a white man, and calling on her to apologize for the remarks, nonetheless disagreed with Gingrich and Limbaugh:

No, they interject themselves into the debate. They've got an audience to entertain. Newt's a political commentator; I'm a United States senator... I don't think she's a racist.

Boom goes the dynamite! Now let's see if he has the stones to keep from apologizing. He is really putting his career on the line. He was booed at the SC GOP Convention when he called for opening the party some. My guess is he doesn't feel he has much to lose now but his dignity. Maybe he will back down. However, he's pissed in a way that may make him more determined to stand up. Whoda thunk it???

1. Maybe they actually read the context of her remarks?
I had thought she had been speaking of old court cases where judges were always white men, like Plessy vs Ferguson or Dred Scott vs Sanford - she had been saying that if a wise Latina woman had been among the judges, perhaps those cases would have been better decided?

Or, maybe I'm wrong.

3. I think she was.
I don't like Graham or a lot of things he has done and said. It will be interesting to see if he stays the course.

As opposed to our benighted governor, Graham was not born with a silver spoon up his butt. He adopted his younger sister when he began college after both their parents died. The military allowed him to take care of her and continue his education. He is not beloved in the state.

2. "They've got an audience to entertain. " Which is more than Lindsey can say, right now.
His big bet-President Gramps McCain- Didn't pay off, and he's got alot of nuttin' these days.

But you can always count on Lindsey: He'll say anything to get onto a national news show.
