Could Sestak do reverse Arlen?
If the DSCC fucks with him, could he jump to the other side?

If he jumped, would you at least consider supporting him over Arlen?

9. Yanno ......
..... that adds nothing to the discourse, so why did you even bother to post?

You're just a pest. Like a gnat buzzing in one's ear at a summer picnic. Annoying, but of no actual consequence and certainly without meaning.

Go pester someone else.

2. Naaaaah. I think Sestak is securing his place in line.
He wants a Senate seat, and wants to get in right behind Rendell, if Rendell wants one, too.

But maybe he IS going for broke. He's going to need money. I don't know if he can do it.

4. Sestack may not find support from the GOP, but he might find money
In a general election against almost any GOP candidate, Specter would win. Ridge could beat him, maybe, but he doesn't seem inclined to run. But the primaries are another thing. Even if the DSCC and Obama make good and support Specter, the GOP knows that rank and file Dems are really unhappy with this situation, and that a General Election against someone who isn't a multi-term incumbent, gives them must better odds. So I could see them backing Sestak in the primaries and try to get a match up more to their liking in the General Election.

5. Specter
It matters to me that Specter is the same kind of self absorbed asshole that LIEberman is. Somehow we have to get rid of these kind of politicians or we will never make progress to a better America.

6. He's not gonna do it,
not gonna take on Specter, simply because he'll have to give up his Congressional seat to run for Senate, and, if he loses, he's out of the game for at least two years - maybe forever.

I think Sestak is enough of a company man - his military background, after all - to play by the rules and move up the ladder in an orderly and non-controversial way. After all - not to be morbid, but simply practical - Arlen's old and he's sick.

Sestak's turn might come in a completely different way than an election .....................

7. I think Rendell is in Sestak's way for the next seat availability
I can't see Sestak having a better chance later than he has now. No matter what ol' Arlen's fate may be, the seat, if it becomes available organically, has Rendell's name on it. And Casey's sure not going anywhere. So this seat is it. I'm thinking **if** Sestak is going to run, he will run in this Dem primary against Arlen. I'm also thinking that the Dem primary, if there is one, is the de facto general election because Toomey is not going to win a damn thing. So its a pretty big plum if he can pull it off.

If he stays out of the primary, he stays a Congressman for a very long time because there will not be any more seats for which he can run.

Except governor .......

And no. I don't think he'll switch parties. He's a far more upstanding guy than is Arlen.

8. not a chance.
If I lived in PA though, I'd be voting for Sestak in the primary- if he even makes it that far.

10. No, Sestak is a loyal Democrat. If Obama campaigns for Arlen against Joe, that would be despicable.

11. It is sort of a conundrum, isn't it?
Arlen is a Democrat for PURELY selfish reasons. He switched because his insane party wants to run "Can't Win" Toomey against him in the insane-people-controlled rep primary. Toomey, with that voting block, would beat him. In a general, Toomey gets no more votes, numerically, than he gets in the insane-people-controlled rep primary.

Sestak, on the other hand, would win honestly.

But, alas, in DC, deals had to be made .......
