Among just the Democrats. I don't think there are any at all Left leaning Republicans. I would say Ben Nelson is by far the most Right leaning and in fact I believe he is farther Right than many Republicans but not sure on the Left side, maybe Kennedy or Kerry. It is not fair to call someone a Centrist when they are at the extreme end of the political scale of the Party. Ben Nelson is in no way a "Centrist", nor is Ted Kennedy a "Centrist". Maybe Max Baucus is a Centrist or Diane Feinstein.

8. Except he is not a Democrat
I agree he is the furtherest left and does indeed caucus with the Democrats but is a stated Socialist.

2. Sanders and Inhoffe
I think Sanders pretty much is a given. I think Inhoffe's nuts.

5. I agree with Ben Nelson, though I'd disagree he's farther right than "many" Republicans.
You could maybe make a case that he's farther right than the pair of senators from Maine, but no one else comes to mind.

10. Do you understand the meaning of is?

What he "was" at one time really has no bearing on what he "is" today and Nancy Pelosi is not a Senator.

12. That was a pretty awkward way to work it in that Byrd was in the KKK
as if we didn't know. Pelosi is not in the Senate.

6. Sanders, Kennedy, Kerry and Boxer are pretty even...Leahy...and Sherrod Brown may be an upandcomer
Ben Nelson and Lieberman rightwing in more upfront ways. Behind closed doors I'd say Schumer and Bayh are always ready to screw over the left. If Clinton was still in the Senate I'd add her along with Schumer.
