26. All Presidents face protests literally EVERYWHERE they go. Were you naive enough to believe that
Obama would not, or that he would know what every single protest is about, every single time? That's just daft.

34. Your post is the most ignorant I've seen on the internet in a long time.
Do you know what a Presidential Advance team is? They know what the situation on the ground is at all times, potential threats, general mood and atmosphere of a location the President will be visiting. They damn sure knew that a very important ruling would be laid down by the California Supreme Court on the day that the President would be visiting that very same state.

Administration has been handling questions during the daily press briefings. And apparently President "Separate but Equal" Obama is unaware as well.

32. yep, we get all upset for NO reason ever... I will say, they are intent on doing nothing on GLBT
(DADT) issues until 2010 from what they said shortly after he was elected. I think it'd be wrong for Mr. Obama to say that he didn't know what they were saying keep your promise about - he almost looked pissed off his honor was insulted, to boot - but if he really thought about it, he knew what the heck they were protesting. He just doesn't want to confront it this year.

We're thrown to the back of the bus, or under it, every time. What is certain, if not this year, but next year, during an ELECTION cycle, and they don't get rid of DADT, I won't do SHI-OTT for any Democratic candidate.

The naysayers claim, fine if you wanna cut your own throat, go ahead, but what's the point, each time we get in a position to advance our rights, it's not prudent to do so at this juncture!

BAH!

Has he met with any REAL PEOPLE in the last thirty days?

Does he know about any side of any issue other than the stuff the Rahm brothers feed him?

Granted we little people didn't fund his mighty and victorious campaign for the Presidency

Oh wait a minute -- we DID! In fact, on Election Night, my husband got a text meessage thanking him for the Obama victory and saying that without our hosusehold's help, he could not have achieved that victory.

How soon they forget.

I like the way the President commends protesters for demanding that he keep his promises...and I suspect he will do that. I also fully understand that governing is about prioritizing. If we don't see real movement on DADT by the mid-terms, I'll be in the streets with sign-in-hand too.

stroke of a pen Obama can undo that.

Did Obama make any statement about Prop 8????

He is nothing but a weak kneed political scaredy cat when it comes to risking any political capital in doing the right thing.

NOW is the time to be making the bold decisions. He has huge majorities.

I don't know about you, but if we say wait til the mid terms, that turns into wait until he is re elected.

Who will want to re elect him if her renegs on all his promises for what he thinks is politcal gain, because liberals have no other place to go. Screw that kind of politics. Is that change???

We are five and a half months in. As I said, I'll be patient and expect him to do the right thing, given the complexities ushering through the bold agenda he has laid out. If mid-term arrives and we haven't seen significant meaningful action, I'll share your outrage.

14. And the uproar over this is why he can keep doing this....
..I personally think Obama has been shitty on gay rights both in his actions (not overturning DADT) and his inactions and his silence on what is going on all over the country. I think he's been a horrible president for gay rights and there's any number of things for everyone to be outraged over.

But it's this relentless focus on things like this off the cuff remark or tiny little things rather than the big, actionable, and truly egregious affronts to gay rights that does nothing to further the cause or get his attention or force his hand.

Dissatisfaction is understandable but let's keep things in perspective. It's about the policies -- not a tepid lighthearted quip like this. And all the over-the-top outrage will only hinder the cause of policy change.

How can you defend him on this? He had to know that hundreds of people were going to turn out and protest the Prop 8 decision and he certainly is aware that people are being dismissed over DADT. He has responded to letters from military personnel who've been dismissed. Don't tell me he wasn't aware of who those people were and what they were there for. He hasn't said one fucking word about the Prop 8 issue. For christ sake can't he at least acknowledge it? Even LBJ looked better than this.

I'm really sick of all you Obama sycophants on this site. I voted for him and want him to lead the way he campaigned and I will not just sit back on my ass and defend everything he says and does. That would make me no better than some knucklehead at little green footballs or what ever the fuck that site is.

Get real people, he dissed those protesters, in his oh-so stylistic way.

glasses! If anything this president is one of the smartest in history - that is fact. It was well publicized there would be gay protests upon his arrival in regards to DADT and the lack of his support to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.

This was the most heartless behavior I have ever seen in my president. It was shameful, especially in light of the disappointing ruling on Tuesday.
