"If you like your current health care plan, you can keep it."
Speaking only for myself, it seems this phrase is a sop to the right wingers who illogically have a fear of "bureaucrats making your health care decisions".

I really know not one soul who is tied to their current insurance scam. Sure, they may well love their doctor, and maybe the doctor and the payer are being intentionally conflated.

Do you or anyone you know just love your health insurance scam/plan?

1. It sucks really. Too many players in the game and my ultimate health doesn't fit in the immediate.
I mean my doctor does her most to get the most out of it fiscally from the insurance company: meaning she keeps me coming back instead of running a full and real diagnostic for my chronic sore throat. Granted the monetary cost is low for me but I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY THROAT.

2. i have family membes who are republicans who like their insurance.
they don't like the cost of it. but they like their insurance. and as long as they have insurance, they don't care about the rest of us. Try to explain to them how we are paying for insurance several times over... paying for the uninsured.... paying for medicaid.... paying for our own... we should all be paying into the same plan.... but they keep insisting how terrible the government is and they wouldn't want the government running their insurance! they don't want the government making decisions about their health. but having inurance company middle management do it... that's jut fine.

4. little known fact is if they go to a public hospital
they are getting the same government approved procedures that the insurance companies will approve and pay for. if they go private-it`s up front money for the difference between the insurance companies payment and the hospital bill.

3.  bureaucrats make private insurance decisions
i two operations i had were approved by two levels of private insurance bureaucrats. i took almost a month to get approval.

the same insurance company did`t pay the hospital bill for two months. the hospital could`t get them to pay in the contracted 30 days billing cycle. the lady i spoke to said this is standard operating procedure for all private insurance companies. of course my doctors problems were worse because he had to justify his procedure and wait even longer for his payment.

i have to repeat the same operation sometime this year and i know the process will be worse than it was two years ago.

7. I have had no major problems with my health insurance.
Got thru a quad heart bypass with it. They covered almost everything. My wife has the same carrier in a different policy. She had a knee replacement and was covered. She is now in chemo and the insurance has been fine.

8. We liked our "current" health insurance three years ago
before the union kept changing it. First excluding working spouses from family coverage and then removing the dental and other services and starting an HSA which we have no control over. etc. etc. etc.

The problem with the health insurance is that they keep raising the price and cutting benefits so you end up paying more for less.

9. I'm betting people serving in the House and Senate love their plans.
Thus the "I've got mine, to hell with you" resistance from the reich wing.

10. Actually, I do. When I had a cancerous tumor removed some years ago ...
the tab for the surgery and course of radiation therapy came to about 35K. I was out of pocket for around 300 bucks. I know that may nort be typical, but you asked.
