Better shots of Gov Palin's outfit on Memorial Day (dial up warning)
I don't see the disrespect. It may not be the best fashion choice, but this is far from the Star Trek-like micromini I was led to expect.

This is just how she dresses on a typical day. She's got the legs for it.

Lots of women politicians play up their looks. For instance Michelle Bachman & Jennifer Granholm

I mean, hubba hubba! ==>

7. I have to admit, I don't see it either
I expected a micro-mini-totally-inappropriate kind of deal, after hearing all the hooplah, but this is fine.

As much as I can't stand the woman, I also can't fault her for what she's wearing here.

17. I don't know anything about fashion, but she looks fine. It's not too
uplifting for me to see "our team" carping about a woman's looks or dress, particularly when they're not blatantly inappropriate. If she were wearing a string bikini and a Beer Hat, that would be worthy of comment and certainly a bit of tut-tutting and WTF-ing. But she makes a nice appearance in those pictures.

I agree with you. It's her ideas, not her outfits, that are the problem.

Wal-Mart can't make a go of it there. The combination of the natural cold and the cold hearts of their owners bring the store's temperature close to absolute zero.

Edited on Thu May-28-09 02:10 PM by Blue_In_AK
Different shoes, different jacket. I'm not sure about the skirt.

The Memorial Day event in this photo was held in Fairbanks. The one Shannyn attended was here at Ft. Richardson, I believe.

ed. Correction -- it wasn't at Ft. Richardson, it was at the Discovery Theater in the Performing Arts Center.

10. Looks like the same skirt to me; the lengths tend match in sitting & standing
But my main point is that there's got to be a way to denegrate her political viewpoints without resorting to the same old chauvinistic woman-bashing rhetoric from three generations back.

21. My thoughts exactly!
I don't give a flying rat's ass about her clothing choices, it's her mind that scares the crap out of me!

There's plenty enough to critique without stooping to this level, imho. She is pretty cute, and putting her down for her looks, hair, legs, shoes, full attire is really petty and makes us look petty.

Edited on Thu May-28-09 02:23 PM by Mike Daniels
That said, the overall outfit was probably too casual for a Memorial Day event honoring the military.

It's obvious that the woman dresses to flatter her figure and even knowing who she is I have no doubt that I'd check her out if she walked in a bar. Even then, her style of dress seems to be frequently at cross-purposes to appearing professional most of the time.

23. Different events. One on Saturday, one on Monday
The event at which Palin is alleged to have worn a miniskirt (according to an item on HuffPost) occurred over Memorial Day weekend, but not on Memorial Day, Specically, that event was the Alaska Decoration of HOnor Ceremony held on Saturday May 23. The photos in this thread are from an event held on Memorial Day itself, Monday, May 25. THe Saturday event was a solemn event -- remembering Alaska's war dead. The photos I've seen aren't terribly clear, but they don't appear to show Palin wearing what I would consider a "mini" skirt.

:P If the length of Sarah's skirts was the only thing we had to bitch about, this might be much ado about nothing, but it's just one more instance of her lack of appropriateness. As in, what governor in her right mind would complain on the state's website about "bogus" (her word) ethics complaints. Bogus??

My distaste for her knows no bounds, so I say the skirt length is fair game. I don't like her hair or her glasses either. And those SHOES...oh, my God.

41. Would you have worn your miniskirt to a Memorial Day event
honoring dead soldiers?

And if you were governor and had been invited to attend this event, don't you think you would have RSVP'ed? This was just one more instance of her keeping everyone guessing as to whether she would show up or not. She's developing quite a track record in that regard.

I'm just so tired of her. That's why I've stopped posting all the myriad Sarah Palin stories -- and believe me, they continue unabated -- and leave it to others to post if they feel like it. She's really wearing us down up here.
