290 in the House & 70 in the Senate..
Without a comfortable margin, the whole legislation process is nastier than what's left on a slaughterhouse floor.
The party of the president is not as important as having a veto-proof majority.
the razor edge balance between the two parties is what's caused so many important issues to be nibbled at, and never "fixed"...and what's allowed so many really bad things to get passed.
Whomever is president, needs to know that his/her legislative suggestions/agendas MUST pass muster with a veto proof congress.
A look-see at how Lieberman's "ideas" garner more importance than they should, is a prime reason why republicanism must be driven out, and replaced with democrats...
