Ok lets get one thing clear
what is going in Cali with the republicans blocking the tax increases the state needs, and the dems in love with way too many programs we cannot afford on CURRENT money flow is a preview of coming attractions to the rest of the US.

The Anarchist, better known as the GOP, are holding a state hostage.

So there you have it... your future too.

And here is the question... you want services, be willing to PAY for them.

1. My firm did a LOT of polling in California and this crash has been coming for a LONG time.
They're like kids that want to eat only desserts.

As a result, the school system has collapsed and has the oldest average age of teachers, the public transit system is deteriorating, etc.

2. I know that, so it is time for the people to put up or shut up
that said people in this state would be willing to raise taxes... but the anarchist in Sacramento want zero taxes

4. Wasn't it the populace who voted for Prop 13, and...
guaranteed they wouldn't have certain tax increases.

Republicans are the ones with the no-tax mantra, but there's enough voters who buy into it even without them that any politician who even thinks out loud about a tax increase is bound to be unemployed at the next election.

Cops get fired, jails get closed down, bridges collapse, potholes devour cars, brown water at the tap, schools close... And still they scream about solving the problems by finding the "waste" and the voters egg them on.

I'm convinced 90% of our problems would be solved if we all just paid our bills on time and stopped trying to chisel nickels and dimes to make the Beemer payment.

6. The very great majority of the population does not own property.
But property owners do vote in very much higher numbers than the rest.

5. Where did we hear, "Pay as you go."?
Not "Borrow as you go."

No nickel, no candy.

7. People will die as a result of these cuts.
Fine, close down the parks if you have to, but this is inhumane.

8. Yeah people will die, I am aware of this
but here is the deal. the PEOPLE are not that against paying their fair share... it is the REPUBLICANS in Sacramento stopping any tax increase... and increasingly dems too.

The people are willing to pay for the services... for the most part... but they also want those services to be well managed and trust me, there is waste, but dems (and some republicans) are not willing to look into that

That impasse will spread across the country.

By the way, it will sound cruel, but perhaps it will take people dying for the idiot I know who wants zero taxes to be voted out on a rail.
