She's "domineering" eh? (Faux Noose re: Sotomayer)
If she was a man - if she had a penis to keep her brain in - would THAT be a term used to describe her? Would "domineering" even be an ISSUE?

I think not.

Nice to know misogynism is still alive and well - all the way up to the supreme court.

This is akin to calling Obama "uppity". They don't even TRY to hide their disdain for women - particularly very accomplished ones.

Women of color always get "aggressive."

23. Yep. The Angry Black Woman (a banner I am all too happy to throw on when needed)
No sister with a brain and bit of ambition hasn't heard that at least once.

They might try to throw "sassy," or "militant" (although that's usually for sisters too) at Sotomayor too. The media, which we all know love alliteration, will probably do something stupid like The Belligerent Boriqua. (Pretty sure I'm spelling that wrong) :)

I'm getting nauseous just thinking about all of this.

brains, passion, ambition, strong opinions = "angry" (unless you're a man)

Man - shows leadership, no nonsense, assertive

Woman - Domineering, pushy, a "b**chy boss"

is how they also described her.

4. I want to see her make Scalia shrivel like a you-know-what in a cold shower
How's that for a little reverse sexism?

And btw, I don't think it would take very long. Scalia might be a bully but I bet he's a mush melon inside and he'd crumble if she said "Boo!".

And I think she's making the idiots at Faux crap their pants because they know she's in. All they have left is to stamp their feet and spew pea soup.

I'm just so thrilled she's the nominee. :D

Came out of the projects in the Bronx, worked for Morgenthau >>> Try DOMINANT!

Will be fun to imagine her vs. Scalia! (in our dreams; Supremes have very cordial relations among themselves, I understand.)

Thinking of her and Ruth! 2 GREAT NEW YORK BABES!!! (No offense; I'm one too, and very pleased imagining them!!!)

I don't know why but I can get all thumbs when I'm digging around C-span archives. Just if you can get the chance.

Thanks for the tip, though. Once I get to the right place I'm sure I'll find more on my own. :hi:

Btw, this comes at a great time with Liz Cheney dominating MSNBC this hour.

9. I hope she gets in and takes a chunk out of some butts up there...
....she's tough, no doubt. If she were a man, that'd be an admirable trait. But since she's "a girl" - she's "domineering".

This is the same not-veiled-at-all sexist language they hurled at Hillary during the Primaries. These BOYS can't deal with real women, can they?

oh, right, as a Latina, she's too passionate & firey about her irrational emotional issues. Ha-ha, what I'm really forgetting is that's actually how I'd describe her Republican opponents!

Nagging, hectoring, old, batty, irrational, hot heads is their baileywick. Every time shrinks diagnoses "Psychological Projection" in one of their patients, they have to pay royalties to the Republican Party.
