6. She was REALLY reaching this time
Using recipe for a whiskey sour to illustrate a balanced court v an unbalanced court (too much sugar, not enough lemon)

Doubt she'll make THAT mistake again. :wtf:

8. A sour whiskey drink
The Sugar represent the conservative justices 4 of them, the lemons represent the general liberal justices 3. Then there are 2 that kinda go both ways that represent whiskey. Taking Souter out representing one of the lemons, she examined how she would fit into the mix.

The point of her analogy was it takes a balance to make the drink taste good.

How did she describe Sotomayor?

And how did she reach that conclusion?

14. She listed her as a possible whiskey
Someone who would go both ways. She came to that idea that she supported conservatives over liberals most of the time but was moderate overall. She also mentioned she was on some 3 judge panel or something like that and voted with her conservative colleagues 5% of the time. The last information may contain incorrect information but the 95% is the correct number Maddow mentioned.

19. I don't have a problem with the analogy
I do see a problem with taking it to heart without definites.

Has she voted with conservatives 5% of the time or 95% ?

If it was only 5% then it would appear she isn't that moderate.

25. I'd disregard that statement for now, she sourced TPM as I'm looking for the article
She has had some conservative rulings such as ruling in favor for corporations over plaintiffs.

26. The ruling I read was she supported the people over the
corporations.

Well, at least this perspective seems to imply she does

. . . Mary Brosnahan, the executive director of New York's Coalition for the Homeless, who recalled Sotomayor presiding over a case her group brought on behalf of homeless people who had been paid $1 an hour by a local business improvement districts for menial labor. Sotomayor ruled resoundingly in their favor, and Brosnahan recalled the judge as brilliant and blunt, characterizing the jobs (in paraphrase) as "a ruse to bilk homeless people."
