So When Does California put the Mormon Church's Existence on a Ballot...
Edited on Tue May-26-09 05:56 PM by fascisthunter
seems fair... if people are allowed to vote on a group of people's rights, and whether or not they have those rights, then a Church becomes fair game.

This concept is extremely disturbing.

2. I would think someone would file suit on their tax exemptions
they are obviously deeply involved in politics.

4. Hell, I'll vote almost any organized religion out of existence...
Given the opportunity!

A church is a group of people, not a building, so yes, the group of people is fair game.

7. A Ballot Initiative to deny the right of marriage to anyone that follows a faith
That has defined marriage as a right to multiple partners and children brides.
No openly Mormon individuals could get married as their own sacred texts define marriage in this pedophilic poly-amorous fashion.

In good conscience we can not have the state allow even the potential of more pedophilia and multiple bride scenarios than are currently being "enjoyed" by them in secret.

Also perhaps an initiative to require underwear marketed to protect one from flame to pass the same tests other anti-flammable materials must pass before say being used by the military.

It is all in the same bible they used to argue against marriage equality for others, why then is the book not potent against them?

8. How about making make them pay State taxes?
If there was a proposition to take away their state tax-exempt status, they'd have to pay for doing business in CA.

Seems fair to me.

9. They're pretty secretive already.
It probably wouldn't change much.

How 'bout they're required to wear their underwear on the outside?

What a horrible thing to say.

I'm so sorry.

11. I think that not only should the Mormon Church get it for this...
...but anyone who voted YES on H8 should be REQQUIRED to never be allowed to divorce ~~ in any state. They wanna protect marriage? Then outlaw them getting divorces.

JMHO

12. Resolved: Mormonism is not in any way a Christian religion.
That would be a good one to place on the ballot. It would probably pass, too.

14. Sure it's a Xian religion. It's just more obviously loony than many other Xian sects
all of which are based on fear, ignorance and guilt drawn from fantasies and myth.

No one comes back from the dead. Jesus didn't even exist and the god of the Bible has no more reality to him than Zeus or Thor.

All god-based religious beliefs are loony.

Resolved.

15. Actually Mormons have significant doctrinal differences with classic Christianity
and really are not Christians for that reason. They follow a different revelation of the nature and work of Jesus.

I am neither but it makes for interesting study and infuriates the 19yo elders they sent recruiting.

Then they'd really be shaking in their oversized underwear.

19. Nah, just the ones who fund this kind of garbage.
I got no problem with liberal Jews, Lutherans, or Episcopalians having tax exempt status.
