I’m a Jeffersonian Democrat and a Deist, like most of the founding fathers. And, like them, I believe that religious beliefs are a private matter, and that there must be a wall of separation between church and state.

Unfortunately, that wall has been eroding since 1979, to such an extent that being a Christian became a litmus test for being a presidential candidate in 2008.

So, I would like to share my discovery of a new singer-songwriter who delivers a courageous and powerful message in songs, reminding us of universal truths and values, and calling for real freedom, especially freedom from religious bigotry and theocratic imposition.

What we need now, more than ever, is religious tolerance. However, we should not tolerate bigotry and theocratic imposition, whether it's in the name of Islam or Judaism or Christianity. Rather, we should re-establish the Jeffersonian "wall of separation between church and state," and have real freedom and equality of religions, and freedom to be an agnostic or atheist as well.

I encourage you to take a look and listen to David's songs, because his poetic, musical message can help a great deal in our liberation from those who want to rule over us under false pretenses in the name of religion and patriotism.

1. I forgot to add something important

Unless we deal with hypocritical "religious" bigotry in the world, the conflicts and divisions will continue. The trouble-makers are not going away, and the most effective "weapon" against them is the truth ... truth far greater and more comprehensive than Barack Obama can or will provide.

Most of Obama's hypocritical critics in America claim to be religious Christians, and most of the hypocritical bigots elswhere claim to be religious Muslims or Jews. In fact, they claim that God/Allah is on their side.

But, in fact, they betray the core messages of most of the Hebrew Prophets and of Jesus and Muhammad. People need to know exactly how, and why, because it will take the wind out of the sails of the bigoted. militant hypocrites.

David J. Nunson's songs will get people's attention to the issue, and his writings get down to the nitty gritty, and give us the "ammunition" we need to combat the religious bigots and hypocrites who are causing most of the trouble.
