Titled: Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Hurricane Recovery, 2006

And that was under the guise of assisting emergency funding after Katrina, but also had much to do with Iraq defense funding, yet also set aside all sorts of appropriations for many other interest groups and and people?

Or am I on the wrong track here?

If I remember correctly, a huge deal was made about this bill, much controversy, but it was strong-armed through by a Republican congress and signed by Bush.

on edit:
want to add this site of all of Bush's signing statements 2001-2007

In listening to the Ranter-In-Chief this AM, I know there have been many bills rammed through by the Republican congress in the last Bush Regime years that had tons of pork.

1. It is supremely hypocritical for ANY Republican

to take Democrats to task for pork. Alaska's Republicans Senator Stevens and Congressment Don Young brag about how much pork they can stick into a bill. It's not even a real bill to them unless it's loaded with something for Alaska (or Arkansas, in Young's case. For all the federal money he's thrown to Arkansas, you'd think he had AK and AR confused). Bush's feigned indignation really causes my eyes to roll.

2. But
It was HIS pork. Doncha see? They are all pork. That's why they pass legislation.
It is a pretty disgusting display at times.

3. Is veto threat really about the pork?
I doubt it! It's all about the troop withdrawal.
Shrub would bitch, but if the withdrawal date was removed but the "pork" stayed, he would sign it.

Instead, the Dems should remove the "pork" and add extra combat pay for our troops to match Blackwater mercs, and add legislation that no military hospitals be privatized.

Let Shrub veto that.
