Former intern to tell of affair with John F. Kennedy
Edited on Sun May-24-09 11:52 AM by keep_it_real
That book revealed that he began an affair in June 1962 with Mimi Beardsley. The 19-year-old student working in the White House press office was described as a "tall, slender, beautiful" by Kennedy's biographer, Robert Dallek.

"She's just not that type of person, where she's going to spill her guts about intimate stuff for the whole country to see," Mr Reiter told the New York Times. "The story has three acts to it: before the White House, during the White House, and then the really powerful part is what happens afterwards. What's the impact on your family life, your marriage, knowing that this happened to you in your early life and you have chosen to keep it a secret."

1. A 19 year old intern. I wonder how JFK lovers and Clinton haters like Chris Matthews
will deal with this.

7. on FOX everyone knows that when a Democrat has an affair
everything they've ever done or stood for is wrong ;) So, FOX news is sure to highlight this one.

I wonder, though, if their viewers will all want to see a beloved president viewed in this manner.

8. Nobody will touch that one with a ten-foot pole. They might get "disappeared" by one
of Poppy's old CIA buddies.

Didn't Donna Brazille get slapped down for trying to bring that up when King George I was running against Wild Bill?

21. I know someone did. The Jennifer story was quickly hushed.
George I needed the fundie vote bad and that story would've seriously damaged that voting block.
You're right. No one will touch that. I'd lay odds that anyone who does won't be around 6 months after publication.

26. Sorry but he does kind of fit the "self-loathing, overcompensating with machoism" mold
And his obsession with patting men on their bald heads is a pretty big red flag. No offense meant to any of our GLBT community, except of course if George W Bush is indeed among your numbers, which would be an offense in itself. I'm offended he was born at all.

Mimi Beardsley Alford, now 66, a retired New York church administrator, will receive an advance believed to be worth nearly $1 million (£630,000) from Random House, the publisher, for her memoir.

poor little thing--just an unwitting participant in this whole stink bomb :eyes:

keep quiet until others brought her name out.

I have no intent to buy this book but I understand that once the newspapers find you - no mean feat in her case as her name has changed - you want to get your side of the story out.

I'm a tepid fan of JFK overall. Reading Reeves' biography was enough for me. that and some of the new documents that have been declassified and published as part of the US Foreign Relations series.

not even worth a reply since it makes no sense whatsoever. That I simply would not beam with pride over my 47 yo elicit affair to the extent of embarrassing my family, friends and that of the man with whom I had the affair..... nor seek to make $$ off of this event?

And, no, I will never forgive what was done to Anita Hill... But then you realize how ludicrous your little straw man was when you posted it, didn't you?

35. People blamed Hill for coming forward to tell her side when she had been outted in the hearings.
If it had been this woman's intention to get $$$ for this, I doubt she would have waited 44 years.

It did not come up until about 3-4 years ago when, in an oral history that Robert Dallek had, the story came out.

The NY tabloids hunted her down - through names changes as a result of marriage - and outted her by name.

Odd that McMillan was also on the receiving end of Churchill's musing about his experiment in gay sex.

I guess folks liked to talk about sex with Harold M.
