Mullen: Military to comply if gay ban law changes

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The nation's top military official says that if Congress changes the law to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly, the Pentagon will comply.

Adm. Mike Mullen says that if the "don't ask, don't tell" law changes, he would advise President Barack Obama on how to integrate openly gay and lesbian military members into military operations.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says he's working to provide Obama an objective assessment of what impact, if any, changing the law would bring to an already stretched-thin military fighting two wars.

Obama says he wants to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly but has taken a go-it-slow approach since taking office.

Mullen appeared Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

2. How about, you'd better fucking comply or the Pentagon is guilty of treason.
WTF, the Military Industrial Complex doesn't even try to hide that they run the show anymore do they?

3. I guess you're not listening to Mullen, but I'm getting a different
impression than you are. When asked about where the detainees will go, Mullen just said that depends on where the prez wants them to go. I don't think they're running this show.

4. It just seems arrogant to me
It shouldn't have to be stated that the Pentagon will comply with the law of the land, and the wishes of the Commander in Chief, who will be signing said bill into law.

5. Well, he was responding to a direct question.
He does sound like it's going to happen, but claims they're trying to avoid 'a polarizing debate'.

6. Then I direct my rage at the idiot reporter instead.
It's a sad commentary on our times when we have to start asking government agencies whether or not they're going to obey the law.

9. So If a soldier/officer in Obama's armed services
refused to go to Iraq, should he be tried for treason.
