Gingrich urges the UK to use military force to destroy Iran’s petrol production company

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article1596816.ece

<snip>

Newt Gingrich, the former Republican congressman who is considering a presidential bid, urged Britain to use military force to destroy Iran’s petrol production company. If a lack of petrol for their cars forced Iranians to “go back to walking and using oxen to pull carts”, the people might rise against the ayatollahs, Gingrich said.

6. Yeah, Newt, that might work.
If a lack of petrol for their cars forced Iranians to “go back to walking and using oxen to pull carts”, the people might rise against the ayatollahs, Gingrich said.

Or they might have risen against the ayatollahs and voted in a more moderate regime if we hadn't threatened them with destruction by labeling them part of the "Axis of Evil" in 2002. I think they were ready to rise on their own; too bad we f*ed it up. Ah, well, it's just one more generation of defensive, radicalized Persians. We'll have another shot at doing it right in 20 years. If we haven't alienated and radicalized their children by that time, too.

Their answer to everything is start a war. Apparently Newt doesn't realize that we'll be using oxcarts right along with them.

the country they are supposed to bomb. Gingrich has never been much of a thinker.

30. Worse
There's no guarantee that Iranian chemical warfare would even hit Tel Aviv--I would not imagine that Iran's missilemen have had a lot of recent practice in firing a mission of that range.

OTOH, if the British blow up Iran's gasoline company, Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz (the mouth of the Persian Gulf) to shipping traffic. That's all they have to do to completely fuck up the whole world. The world is dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and that's the only way to get it out.

17. Yup, he's beginning to sound more and more like the moral values crowd's ideal candidate.
Let's see - he spearheaded Clinton's impeachment, openly wants to suppress the first amendment, and now he wants to bomb Iran back to the stone age. He's the ideal candidate for Dobson and Falwell, all right.

Sorry, Newtie. You and Dickie 'Five Military' Deferments, and Hannity, O'Liely and Limbaugh will have to fight this one.

Oh, you are TERRIFIED of that? I thought so.
