Time Out instead of Torture?
This guy is such an IDIOT!

LTTE from Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday:

With the now-outlawed practice of waterboarding, I suggest a practice for "enhanced interrogation" that I believe will be even better.

After capturing an individual who has information that could save American lives, we sit him down and say, "Please, tell us."

If he refuses, we then say, a bit louder, "Please! Please, tell us." Oftentimes the use of the word "please" twice is enough to get a person to spill the beans. However, if the individual still refuses, we then say, in a loud voice (not too loud to hurt his ears) "Please! Please! Please, tell us." The "three-please" approach works almost all the time.

In rare cases where the terrorist, I mean silent gentleman, still refuses to talk, we use the ultimate weapon - time out! We tell him that we'll be forced to give him five minutes in TIME OUT if he doesn't talk. As soon as he realizes time out is in play, he'll sing like a canary.

Timothy F. Killeen

3. It's the sarcasm that just makes my skin crawl.
What an ass! He ignores the fact that torture is illegal and has been and then defends it by pretending that we can't interrogate without it. Argh!

I responded to him...we'll see if it makes it in the paper or on their website.

I won't debate whether or not torture works with these losers, but it was and is ILLEGAL and a war crime.

4. My LTTE in response
"I feel the need to respond to Mr. Killeen's letter asserting that waterboarding is "now outlawed". Despite what ideological lawyers working for the Bush Administration dreamed up, waterboarding is torture and has been outlawed for many years by U.S law and the Geneva Convention. In World War II, we prosecuted a Japanese officer for waterboarding and sentenced him to 15 years of hard labor. During Vietnam, one of our own soldiers faced a court martial when a photo of him waterboarding was printing in a newspaper. Now, we can debate whether or not torture accomplishes anything, which intelligence experts dispute, but it's really not the point. We have laws and standards so what the Bush Administration did was a war crime and it is indefensible. I recently watched John Demyanyuk finally being taken away for his war crimes. I wonder if we'll ever see Dick Cheney, who obviously endorsed this torture, join him in that cell."

If you're in NE Ohio, you can send a response here:

Let's send a few letters so they'll print a response to this guy's nonsense.

5. My LTTE is being considered for print!
I just got a call from the Cleveland Plain Dealer and they're considering this letter. :)

I love being able to knock down the many morons who get printed in our paper!
