The lying and deception is too much to handle.
MSNBC, CNN, and the other cable network news programs are over-loading our capacity to delineate the truth.

One wonders if any of these "talking heads" have any training or education in journalism? Who, What, When, Where, and How?

This Pelosi story in the last few days is the last straw. When lying about torture, if indeed Pelosi did lie, is worse than the torture itself, then what are people supposed to think?

God help us that any of them would have to think for themselves. Let's make sure we put their names on the cue cards, lest they forget it.

Some of us remember the young reporter from MSNBC that was riding on top of an APC and reporting the war in its early days. Shockingly, he died in Iraq "doing his job". His job was to promote the war and nobody was more gung-ho than MSNBC. They actually fired one of their top on-air celebrities, Phil Donahue, because he was "anti-war". No, we haven't forgotten.

In the last week or so, they have become like hyenas attacking a dead carcass, as the real story goes right over their heads. It is discouraging, to say the least. If Nancy Pelosi gave the orders to torture, if she conspired with those that broke international laws, if she wrote the torture memos, if she was the person to sign off on the enhanced techniques, then she should be the person attacked by MSNBC and the cable networks. But she was none of the above. The brilliant "talking heads" are letting the criminals walk right by them. It appears to be on purpose. No one could really be that stupid.

3. That's a good idea....
I'm doing that right now. What I understand Pelosi saying is that she was told at the ONE briefing she had - which "enhanced interrogation techniques" were at the disposal of the interrogators. She said she wasn't told that they were being "used." What is so difficult about that to understand? She should just ignore this and tell them to go after the torturers - as she should have done to impeach GWB. Maybe this is her karma for not doing what the Dems were elected to do in 2006 - hold GWB acocuntable.

2. Don't watch ........
And let them know you're not going to watch anymore. Let them know why. Send them a copy of this most excellent post.

I watch KO and Rachel. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

The rest of it is junk, and as Barbara Bush (oh, god, take me now!) once famously and delicately observed about the body count in Iraq, "Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

(I have now twice quoted Barbara Bush here at DU. If this happens a third time, if I am forced to use that vile woman's words one more time, I am going to implode.)

4. I've always thought that there should be some

journalistic Oath of Hippocrates or a bar association. Anybody that wants to be a newscaster, reporter, news reader or journalist would have to take it in order to ensure truth and integrity.

Doctors have to take an oath in order to do no harm to a patient. Why should it be any different for a nation's health to get accurate reporting?

5. These "people", and I use the term advisedly, know exactly what they are doing..
They are two legged hyenas, beasts that walk upright but lack the soul of a human being, their banality is only exceeded by their evil.

Unclean, undead, they exist to eat the truth and shit foul lies.

7. Even CSPAN's WJ had a Bushie cocksucker on this a.m. hitting all the talking points
...to defend "waterboarding," which, according to him isn't torture. The sad thing is, the majority of dipshit calls I heard reveal that this media-induced nudging of the public toward agreeing with the fascists seems to be working splendidly. The shadow elements who control this country have NOTHING to worry about re resistance from the citizenry. It's the "manufacture of consent" perfected.

12. CSPIN, as is the case w/ALL MSM, favors rightists over leftists, which are usually "moderate," which
...is preferred since moderate is much closer to the Right than leftists/progressives are.

10. If we needed another example of needing media reform this is it
why don't we start a drive to reform the media? I just might go over real big about right now, us having a popular President and all.

11. Agreed and
it's a refutation to the people who said let them attack Pelosi because it would bring the Bush administration back into the picture.

That didn't happen and won't happen if this continues.
