Knights Templar were tortured.
We should ask the history channel to repeat the show they aired last night. I don't know how long it ran, I just caught it where it was talking about the demise of the Knights Templar. There were some fine points:

(1) They tactically lost to the Arabs, basically, they did not understand the terrain, or the Arabs used the terrain better, to their advantage. But that's not the point. The point is, that no one back home expected them to lose because they thought that they had God on their side. When they lost, the people back home began to think that, maybe, the Templars weren't so divine, afterall.

(2) When they got back home, they were baited into a trap and rounded up -- by their own people. More than a hundred of them. Then the Inquisition began. Accusations were made, and testimony was drawn from them -- through torture. The extent of their torturing was probably in line with what they did in Gitmo.

(3) They have ON RECORD, the number of people who testified that they did the things they were accused of. More than a hundred admitted spitting on the cross; more than a hundred admitted to partaking in strange rituals which were forbidden. The list goes on.

So, I'm here asking, how can Anglo-Americans who are extremist about the Christian religion, and who hold the Templars in such high regard, not see that even the most boldest of men can be made to tell you everything you want to hear, but, it isn't going to be the truth?

Not to defend any form of torture, but I daresay that the torture they used was more permanently PHYSICALLY crippling than that of Gitmo. Now psychologically? On par.

Of course they didn't live long enough to tell of it anyways.

2. Well, since there are thousands of pictures we can't see,
we'll never really know.

3. It was okay to torture the Templars because it WORKED!
Virtually all of them eventually confessed.

4. But the torturers, never got what they wanted, did they?
They all believed that the Templars had collected religious items, like John Baptist's head. But when they went to raid the houses of the Templars, they found nothing. Not even money. So, where did it all go?

9. Well, Jesus was tortured, too, but that doesn't seem to phase them, either.

11. Well, you must remember that, according to Huckabee, Jesus would support the death penalty.
So I guess a torture supporting Jesus would be OK too.
