Maybe marriage should be between three people?
Or maybe four?

How about not fucking with people and letting them do their own thing? Pfft, we could never do that. We can't just leave people alone.

3. Above and beyond some peoples desire to control others, there is also the question
of what happens when they divorce, what happens with children, inheritances, etc.

So some of the societal prohibitions are just based on no established law to deal with various (legal)situations that might arise.

Most places that practice polygamy or androgamy have laws or customs to protect the interests of the parties, but they are still usually binary in nature.

Of course one could start a commune and do anything one wants sexually and socially, but not in the official capacity of a marriage contract.

A good part of it is to protect the interest of the children, spouse(s) etc.

6. I don't think there should be ANY marriage laws .....
Except age-of-consent. Straight, gay, polygamy, polyandry, group, incestuous, whatever two or more people want. Totally serious, not joking a bit.

8. I wonder how many people have been involved with a
serious threesome. I have... but even I would probably not be in favor of polygamy.

Mostly because, unlike my former situation, when I think of polygamy, I think of child abusing Mormons.

Of course, maybe I simply a bit too old now.

Let's make marriage a right for any two people first, then think about other situations.
