Our country is still in trouble

* More evangelicals think it's OK to torture detainees than for Obama to speak at Notre Dame.

* We waterboard detainees and use other "enhanced interrogation" things on them, yet we're still discharging soldiers because they're gay.

* More people are offended by a poor person getting several hundred dollars a month in welfare than a rich person getting millions of dollars a year in corporate welfare.

* We pay for the salaries and health care of politicians to say that we can't have the same health care system they get.

Our country still needs saving, can we do it?

That was going to be my post though I wouldn't have said it so well. It is indeed just the tip of the iceberg.


The system may or may not become stable again but in the long term, unless we have a major paradigm shift, we're in deep trouble.

While walking my dog, I overheard a neighbor mention the need to continue battling against gay marriage, pro-choice, socialized medicine, and to protect the "patriots" who had the strength to do what was necessary to protect the country. For sometime I just ignored statements like that and kept walking, but I snapped and let loose. I basically said the country suffered through 8 years of disgusting policies, so I will help my country recover and not let it down that path again. I told him that we (progressives) are attempting to save this country and to stay the hell out of our way.

So, yeah, I'm in.
