Who here believes that phrase we keep hearing: The investigations into these torture incidents
Edited on Thu May-14-09 05:34 PM by Mike 03
have been thoroughly conducted and, therefore, should no longer be of any interest to us as citizens of the United States?

So, the entire matter has been settled to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

Do you accept this??

Maybe I was sleeping when these trials were ongoing, and if so, I apologize.

Who was indicted?

Who was tried?

Who was found innocent?

Who are they trying to fool?

Crimes were committed, for which no one has been publicly accused, preliminarily questioned, indicted, arraigned and tried.

Or am I mistaken?

If so, please correct me.

1. These were not "torture incidents" That was US policy.
That, all by itself, means a bunch of people broke the law. They need to be held to account. Period.

And no matter how attractive our new president is, he needs to know that and to act accordingly.

2. nobody did anything. there is no proof of anything. none that we've found, anyway...
if they aren't guilty, they must be innocent. you must have missed the trial, we all saw it. we think. or not. no harm, no foul...or you didn't see me do it, you can't prove i did it, so...i didn't do it.

6. all I could find was information
similar to this-

<<<<snip....
Pentagon officials disputed the charge that the photographs proved abuse was "systemic" in prisons run by the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying the images came from 60 of the military's own investigations of abuse allegations.

"What it demonstrates is that when we find credible allegations of abuse, we investigate them," said a senior defense official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The Pentagon has not stated when or how it will release the detainee photos, but defense officials said the initial 44 and possibly hundreds more are likely to be made public close to the May 28 deadline.

The Pentagon has noted that it investigates all allegations of detainee abuse and since 2001 has taken more than 400 disciplinary actions against U.S. military personnel found to have been involved in such abuse.

8. We are getting closer.. don't give up hope...
The documents Obama released a few weeks ago were the first small hole in the dyke. Wilkerson has come out with the next bit that is increasing the flow. Cheney is scrambling to cover his ass but it's not working. If pressure is kept up then eventually we will see real investigations followed by trials. Frankly with 21% of Americans identifying themselves as Republicans the politicians of both parties are not going to have any choice if they want to get re-elected. There aren't enough Republicans left to counter us if we keep hammering on them. Demand Justice. LTTE's, calls to Congress and the Senate. Posts on DU, let the world know how you feel.
