Mine led off the broadcast with "an attempt to sterilize pidgeons" as the important information we need to know. We rarely tune into local news as it is complete self-promoting bullshit.

What is your local news featuring this evening? The homeless folks camped in tents on the greenbelt? The overflow at the local shelter now that so many families have lined up for services due to foreclosures?

1. A puppy rescued from a storm drain and an arson fire in an apartment complex
There are foreclosures? Homeless families?

Couldn't prove it by me.

2. Last night's local news...
A parrot that can play golf and plays dead. Local news coverage in the Phoenix area is pathetic.

3. My local news does a really good job
of reporting on families affected by the economy and other consumer related issues, like utility companies that try to scam customers.

4. Teens sneaking into tanning salons
But don't worry!!! Our brilliant, wonderful, and absolutely incorruptible wingnut state legislators have already come up with new legislation to make sure it doesn't happen again! :eyes:

5. Nothing!!!
Front Page of my paper today, it lists my town as the biggest loser in home values. My great Mayor
bragged early this year how they have managed the money well and have no fiscal problems. No mention of all the houses in my neighborhood standing empty, no addressing how the local food pantry is bare. No one is talking about it. My union currently has 1935 people out of work, we encompass one county. Our business manager has not addressed this, I have seen bad times, but this is huge!! I have been looking for a part time job since August, I mean a menial part time job to tide me over til I go back to work, and I can't even get an interview. Things are really bad and the fact that no "one" talks about it is frightening, makes you think you are crazy, and you are the only one.

6. no news...
The early morning no news show are worthless. When i do watch, it's after 5pm pacific time. When Durban tried to pass a foreclosure reform bill in congress, all repubs voted against it including 12-15 demo's, now that's bipartisan working for the big companies. Do they really care? No...

7. My "local news" ~ which is just 'coffee-clatching included news from a realtor friend who sat at an
open house this weekend. The husband/wife purchased their home two years ago for $760,000. Their 'offering' it at $699.900 (which means after the negotiation they will get even less than that). He lost his white collar job several months ago, and seeing how he's around 50 y/o doesn't see people clamoring for his skills at his pay-grade.

My realtor friend reported ABSOLUTE FEAR/TERROR in his eyes when he heard that NOT ONE PERSON stopped to look at/consider his house.

This depression/recession is happening to EVERYONE ~ regardless of the 'pay-scale'. Your savings/IRA's are gonna be "gone with the wind" EVENTUALLY ~ sooner, rather than later. It's all a "matter of time".

8. How a self-styled evil genius was outsmarted by a dog
A few weeks ago, a marketing professor murdered three people. An extensive manhunt ensued. A few days ago, the murderer's body was found. He had dug his own concealed grave and killed himself. Obviously, this was because he was both a control freak and wanted to keep people in fear. However, a cadaver dog found the body.
Hence, he was outsmarted by a dog. But then again, he was just a marketing professor.

9. you would think that it never happens here . . .
I saw a flyer at the grocery store the other day that said "Foreclosure sale, losing our home, everything must go!" The list has everything from furniture to kids toys. I wonder where they will go. I think our local paper is afraid of seeming to pessimistic so they tend to just report the fluffy stuff too.
