Saberi release a big bummer for extremists, here and there
Just like here, there are parties working for peace and those working against it. To oversimplify it, the hardliners there jailed Saberi and the moderates there got her out.

Over here, the hardliners see it as bad news she got out, and the moderates see it as good news.

Plus, who knows what happened behind the scenes? We have a moderate administration, suppose we still had an extremist administration? Maybe necessary negotiations wouldn't have taken place and Saberi would still be in jail.

Good discussion here:

1. The jaded part of me wonders if this Iranian heritage, North Dakota born journalist ...

may have wanted to be swept up? Consider the fact that FOX will "drool all over her." It also doesn't hurt that she's a former beauty queen, i.e., Miss North Dakota, 1994.

Perhaps I'm too cynical. However, as an AMERICAN who was actually BORN in a nation of the Middle East, there's no way *in hell* you could get me anywhere near the Middle East, much less Iran. No, I don't have a death wish.

WHY DID SHE GO when she knew, as an USA born citizen that she would be under intense scrutiny?

I think her career is set but I'm not impressed with this human being who COULD have caused an international incident.

BTW any news on the two journalists held in North Korea? No, well neither one was a former beauty queen so it's just as well.
