Actor Eric Braeden comments on war and 2008 presidential election
http://entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/Politically+incorrect+with+YRs+Eric+Braeden+/TV_Guide/Soaps/Features/Articles/220307_ebraeden_NB.htm?isfa=1

Excerpt from article:

TVG: One of your biggest passions is politics. What’s on your mind these days? You must be happy that the democrats took back the power in the Senate.
EB: I’m hopeful. Democracies are strong and resilient. This election has proven me right. I believe in the strength of this country. America has finally come to its senses. I think it speaks a lot about America’s democracy that the people were not intimidated by the administration and the minions in the media, who tried everything in their power to intimidate those who might’ve harbored a critical view.

TVG: Do you think America should pull out of the Iraq war immediately?
EB: The entire Iraq adventure is a mess. I grew up in Germany after the war, and there was no question as to who ran that country after the war. It was the Allies. Even then, when I was four or five years old, I took rocks or tomatoes to throw at the English tanks. I had no idea why. You just felt like you’d been invaded by an outsider.

They were determined to go to Iraq a long time ago because Bush Jr. wanted to prove to Bush Sr. that he was a man. <...> Part of me understands that you want to shut up someone like Hussein, but I can’t stand this rhetoric in the West. Adding insult to injury: How can you execute this war so amateurishly? We’re still living in a very Darwinian world where the strongest survive.

TVG: Which Democrat would you like see run for president?
EB: Al Gore — especially if he could talk from the gut. Senator John Kerry made the egregious mistake of trying to remain above the fray when they began to impugn his character in Vietnam. I was furious about his benign lackadaisical reaction. Hilary Clinton is obviously very capable and I don’t question her intelligence or experience, but she seems to be very divisive. Barack Obama is very bright and knows the issues. Anything better than what we have now would be a huge step in the right direction.

4. I don't know
I remember when he was Hans Gudegast and starred in THE RAT PATROL. I believe his attitudes come from having grown up in post-war Germany.I know he's always been very focused on German youth knowing and understanding what happened during that time.

5. The Rat Patrol! God, haven't thought of that series in awhile...
As for a country's youth knowing that country's true history -- I wonder if American kids will ever be allowed to do the same?

6. Ironically I think Victor Newman would be a Corporatist Bush-Bot CEO
Thankfully that's just the character he plays on "The Young and the Restless"

I have been watching over 30years now, I know he can be tough most of the time, but I think
he is actually a Dem at heart!!! I know in real life he is, he despises Bush, I heard him on
Bill Maher once.

12. Why isn't there any outrage at the Dems that stood on the sidelines
Edited on Tue Apr-03-07 04:40 PM by politicasista
while Gore and Kerry were getting attacked?

Though I am glad he supports Gore, it seems like there should be more anger at the Democrats that sat on their tails and did nothing while Gore and especially Kerry were visciously smeared by the RW. Where were the Dems and left-leaning pundits?

Those are questions NO ONE wants to answer because it's more easy to blame the victims/candidates instead of asking why didn't I do my part or what could I have done better.

The ENTIRE Democratic Party let both Gore and Kerry down period.

Sorry, but that's the truth. Flame away.
